I will be teaching a lesson about the Magna Carta next week in my tenth grade World Civilization class. I am already planning on having the students work in small groups to create their own lists of rights. Any other ideas? Thanks!
I use this activity and my students seem to really enjoy it, learn from it and understand the difficulties King John faced. http://www.thinkinghistory.co.uk/ActivityBase/KingJohnDecisionMakingGame.html BTW - this is a GREAT website for teaching World Civ. The site is obviously centered around English history, there are lots of things here that can be used in World Civ.
I would love a primary source! I have been emphasizing the use of primary sources throughout the year. I feel like the students are finally beginning to feel confident with reading and interpreting them. INTeacher - Thanks for the great website. I definitely want to point out what the issues were for King John as well.
Megawinn, can you tell me more about your activity? We are going to be studying the Magna Carta soon too. Also, Brendan, I will pm you with my email too, if you don't mind. I will have fun looking at the website too, INteacher. Thanks...
Here's another great UK history website with awesome worksheets that cover just about every academic level. I don't really understand the grade levels so I check out everything on the topic. The worksheets for the the French Revolution are great. http://www.schoolhistory.co.uk/resources/
Sent it, Mrs. M. The honors activity I sent you would most likely be way to hard for MS, however the CP activity could work out well with modification.
