I mentioned on another thread recently about an activity I was going to be doing with my students on the second day of school using The Important Book. I read the book to the students and then had them write a page about themselves so that we could make our own important book. Well, before I had them write on their own we worked on an example one together on the board. I used myself as the example and had the students give me ideas of what to write. This is what my third graders came up with: The important thing about Ms. R. is that she is a great teacher. She is nice and talented. She has great hair and she has a very lovely voice, But the important thing about Ms. R. is that she is a great teacher. I told them that they were all fishing for A's, but they really did make my day.
