... They're put off until last at most schools I've been to. This year, the fifth grade has a late, late, late lunch.

Which time do your students have lunch (this year or even last year)?

We actually have the first lunch due to scheduling for specials, so we eat at 11:25. The kids don't mind, since it breaks up the day nicely between that and our specials.

We have lunch between 12:30 and 1:15pm. Yes, it's the last lunch. It's kind of weird on Tuesday's because school is out at 1:30 every Tuesday. I don't mind it except for the fact that I never get to see the primary teachers because they have lunch at 11:30.

At our elementary schools here, everyone has lunch at the same time. Our lunch this coming year will be from 11:45-12:45.

I think they have it at about the later time you mentioned, around 1:15 p.m. However, you can only schedule so much. I wouldn't want to imagine what it's like to put together a decent schedule for grades K-5 with specials, lunch, and computer lab in there as well as the 90-minute reading block. Someone always has to get the latest lunch. For the longest time, I think it's been third grade who goes last.

My second year of teaching, my fourth graders ate at 10:40 a.m.! We were the VERY first lunch. It had its good attributes, yet they were extremely hungry by dismissal (3:10 p.m.).

I have lunch at 11... the first lunch, so hopefully my kids will get hot food this year (they truck it in). We will have snack every afternoon.

We eat lunch from 1-1:30 and due to the size of our school we have to eat in our classrooms. It's not bad. The good thing is that after lunch we only have about an hour of school. We do our recess before lunch at 12:30.

Last year lunch was at 1:00, so we needed to have a snack. This year it's 11:30! WHOO HOO!

We do let the kids have a snack, which is a good time for us to have one too!

At my previous school, they had to start lunch at 10:30 (Kinders)and it went to almost 2:00 (we had over 1100 kids at that time). It was crazy!

We have lunch from 12:50-1:35. Our dismissal is at 3:30, so we have a pretty good block of time to work with after lunch.

Ours was at 12:27 last year. I'm not sure what it'll be this year; probably close to the same. I don't mind it though...makes the afternoon go by quicker sometimes. I do allow for kids to bring healthy snacks (I'm enforcing the HEALTHY part this year) and they are allowed to eat them around 10am.

Mine is like the post above. And they have a snack around 9:30. I'm starving by the time lunch comes around, but we are the last ones in and we can stay and linger a bit if we want to (and don't get caught!)

HAHA! I think that I have the earliest of them all. I just found out today that the first fifth grade class (mine) is eating first at 10:20! Wow! It will work out great! I can have breakfast at 7, lunch at 10, and a snack when they go to related arts at 1:30! I actually like it.

Have they ever run out of food for your class? They did the other day for my kids, and you should have seen the glare coming from my eyes as we sat there waiting for them to cook something.
They blamed it on teachers not putting down their own lunch choice on the slips that are turned in to them by 8:30, but logically, why then do you hand them a tray knowing you've got more classes coming through?
