Does anyone have a short lunch-time prayer/grace to say with the class? I will be teaching grade 3 at a Christian-minded school, and can only think of "Johnny Appleseed". Pease help!
Come Lord Jesus be our guest. Let this food to us be blessed. In Jesus name we thank you. Amen. For the food we eat, thank you Lord. For the cook so sweet, thank you Lord. For the friends we've made, thank you Lord. Oh Lord, thank you Lord. (Sing to the tune of Kumbaya) We thank you for our food oh Lord. Our mom and dad too oh Lord. We thank you for our food oh Lord. To get us through the day. Amen (snap, snap) Amen (snap, snap) Amen Amen Amen (snap, snap) (Sung to the tune of the Addams Family) My savior has a first name is J-E-S-U-S He died for all of us because he L-O-V-E-S I want to thank him when I pray And that is why I have to say that G-O-D is super great so thank him for the food we ate. (Sung to the tune of Oscar Mayer)
This is the on eI used to say every day in school when I was younger. It's not very catchy for young kids but it's short. Bless us, Oh Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive from thy bounty, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
God is great, God is good Thank you Lord for our food By His hand we are fed Thank you for our daily bread - Amen
Tasha's is the one I was going to suggest. I grew up with that one but worded a little different on the 2nd line "Let us thank Him for our food".

This is one sung to the tune of "Rock Around The CLock" (not the intro part one, two, three o'clock, 4 o'clock rock....but the melody) by Bill Haley and the Comets: God is great God is good And we thank Him for our food Gonna thank Him in the morning Noon and night, We're gonna thank our God 'Cause He's Outta Sight! Gonna thank our God 'cause he is good to me!
OK if we are going funny, here's one: Thank the Father, the Son, and they Holy Ghost The one that east the fastest, gets the most
This is the second verse to Johnny Appleseed, in case you don't have it: I wake up every day As happy as can be Because I know the Lord is there Watchin' over all my friends and me The Lord is good to me... amen, amen, amen, amen amen... Praise the Lord
I liked the Addams Family one... cute. But I can't see myself doing something like that and it being sincere. But I did chuckle with the Addams Family grace.
Pirates of the Caribean tune: Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Christian's Life for me - 2 times! Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Christian's Life for me. Be present at our table Lord, We here and everywhere adore, and may this food that we now eat, be blessed for you and me - AMEN! Yo Ho, Yo Ho, a Christian's life for me - Let's Eat!
Sun- I used the same prayer back in during my Catholic school teaching days! Missidy- Check with your school, you may have a required prayer to teach.
We sang this in college and I wish I could tell you the tune, but I am sure it could just be simply said, but I like it. Be present at our table Lord. Be here and everywhere adored. Thy mercies bless, and grant that we may feast in paradise, with Thee. Amen It was a really pretty little prayer song that our choir sang when we went on trips. Cindy
Superman Grace Thank you Lord for giving us food Thank you Lord for giving us food For the things we eat And the friends we meet Thank you Lord for giving us food
To the tune of Frere Jacques. The teacher leads, and the kids repeat. I love this one because you don't really have to preteach it since the kids just listen and then repeat. O-u-r Father O-u-r Father Once again Once again We will ask your blessing We will ask your blessing A-m-e-n A-m-e-n
My daughter learned this one at daycare... "God is good. God is great. Thank you for the food on my plate. Amen." The only reason I know this is that I asked her if she wanted to pray before bedtime, and she said this instead! I loved it! She was two when I heard this one.
My family always had a simple one growing up (it's te one we STILL use)... Each time we eat, May we remember God's love. Amen. At camp, we used to do the Doxology to the tune of Gilligan's Island. Praise God from whom all blessings flow Praise him all creatures here below Praise him above ye heavenly hosts Praise Fa-ther, Son and Holy Ghost Amen. We also used that tune for Amazing Grace sometimes. It certainly made it memorable!
