Okay that didn't work! Dang it. Go to www dot batanga dot com, then type in Nickelback (artist) and choose the song clip, "If Everyone Cared."

Everyone, you have to see this because it is true and it's so powerful. Thanks.

Kinderkids, yours works, God bless you for that! And thank you TG for yours too. :)

There is something that is literally designed for teachers to help, though anyone can do it. It's just a small thing to us but a big thing to those it helps. It's called Heifer International, they have a website, check it out please. It's a great way to help, and to get children involved in helping. And there are people all over the world doing great things to help, though they seem small, it all adds up and even one change in one life makes it worth it, right?

Tigers has asked for this twice before, I'm asking you again. Teachers, if you know of things we can do to help and make a difference, please post it here. Thank you.

and now I've got to get off the internet for awhile and get some work done!

Loved the song before...seeing the video makes it all better. :)

If every classroom, in very school, in a district would choose an angel or two off the angel tree, then so many children would be blessed with gifts on Christmas.

If you haven't already done, replace at least some of your incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescents - it's true that disposal is a nuisance, but they last a very long time and use a quarter or less of the energy, which is easier on Earth.

My daddy was Mr. Political Activist. He had his children going door-to-door with petitions for shelters, things like that. So yes, as soon as I turned 18 of course I voted. I’ll never forget all of the “Walk fors...” this or that that we participated in. ‘Specially not the 10-mile Walk for Hunger when I was 12... ouch, that one was long. And hanging around TV stations and other events while he sang for this or that “-athon.” And going to the city council fighting for this or that. Helping people build their homes damaged by storms, helping the homeless, just always doing.

So it was a way of life in our family and that’s the way my children have been raised, too. We are always doing something, even when we were poor. And there are countless ways, big and small, that we can all help. And I know that everyone here does something. I love the ideas so far, please keep them coming. What can we do?

little things: buy scripts and then donate them to a family you know needs it...
buy groceries for that old lady you see going through the rubbish bins behind the grocery store...
help that old lady get on HUD assistance so she can afford to eat...
donate to charities where you know the money goes to the people you wanted it to go to...
when you get the free turkeys for buying $25 worth of groceries, donate them to your school or church...
and along TG's line, don't buy feedlot beef...:)

I think I'm going to join the Peace Corps for a couple of years. I did it once then backed out last minute. Seeing all of these kids in other countries makes me want to go there and be part of their lives. I feel so selfish lately.
