I'm looking for good, relevant books for professional development, to recommend to my admin. Books with good and fresh classroom strategies, not the typical student driven groups that we all know rarely works. You know, the 'have the students pick colors/letters/numbers/symbols for partners' type strategies which are good but is there anything new? Especially for boys and diverse groups? Also looking for books on economically disadvantaged students, the Ruby Payne book is good but not sure if it still relates, published in late 1990's, need something recent. Thanks!
