Our new principal is from out of state. He wants us to reference both the TEKS and CCSS (besides CCRS and ELPS) on our lesson plans. I can't seem to find any source showing an alignment of the TEKS and CCSS for grade 6 ELA. Anyone have such a document or know where to locate? TIA
He can just create an alignment for you then! I wish Texas had gotten on the bandwagon as well. It'd be easier when going to the teacher store!
He just might have to do just that. The CCSS reading seems easier than our 6th grade expectations. I was trying to complete an analysis on two passages today. I'm dept chair and I don't see a reason to include since Texas chose not to adopt! I think tge problem is that he doesn't know the TEKS. Everyone is asking me for the alignment. I'm not sure one exists. I've told them not to worry about aligning them and cc'd him. Thought maybe I was overlooking a source.
There is an excessive paperwork law on the books. I think it's from 2005. My co-worker found it on the ATPE site. I think this would apply since Texas doesn't even have these standards. Before common core, an administrator in Arizona would have never expected his teachers to reference Maine's standards on lesson plans. That's basically what your principal is asking y'all to do.
I really think he doesn't know/understand we use TEKS in Texas. In meetings he refers to the standards as CC. At first it was funny and now sorta scary. He doesn't even correct himself. The other two admins just look at him. Wonder who he knew to get the job? Oh wait, we know...lifelong friend of super. The principal moved back to Texas to be closer to his elderly father. It will be an interesting year!!!
