I have actually been doing some experimenting since last year where I am reading books that give teachers advice regarding strategies and discipline, but what I am doing is I am comparing old books to more modern ones to see the differences within them. I got one from around 1983 and a lot seemed very similar to the advice for today with a few things different, but I want to go back further to around the 70s or before. Any books come to mind?

I'm interested in what you will find out.
    Did the kids change?
Or was it the way we deal with them?
Have our methods change because kids are different nowadays, or are kids different because of the way we deal with them?
Is it a combination of both?
Has technology and multimedia affected any of this?
    How about our lifestyles?

Fascinating. I'm interested in updates, too. I have a book from the early 20th century. The info is definitely not applicable to today's classrooms!

Push Back the Desks by Albert Cullum (1967)

Wow, what a great teacher...to think this book was written by a teacher over 45 years ago on teaching strategies. May he rest in peace.
