I can't seem to find a book I LOVE these days! Every time I pick up a book I get bored with it and give up, moving onto something else only to become bored again!

Here are some of my favorite books...if anyone has read one of these and it makes them think of a similar book please clue me in. Thanks!

    - Cold Mountain
    - I Know this Much is True
    - She's Come Undone
    - The Pilot's Wife
    - Fortune's Rocks
    - Angela's Ashes

I've read some other great ones but my brain is fried. I'll add to it later as I think of more :)

Do you think you would like a novel about the Christians in the first century? I have read the trilogy The Mark of the Lion, and believe me, it is not your typical Christian literature. It is breathtaking. By Francine Rivers, and by the way, I haven't enjoyed anything else she has written so far, just this trilogy. It is historical fiction, and begins in 70 A.D. My teenage daughter has read it over and over.

I love all the books you listed, so I think you would enjoy my latest favorite - Whistling in the Dark. I forget the author's name. I'll look it up for you. It was a fabulous, beautifully written book.

I haven't had a lot of luck with books lately. They seem to start out great, then fizzle at the end and I get so annoyed with that.

There is always the list of favorites:

    Cold Sassy Tree
    The Poisonwood Bible
    C.S. Lewis' science fiction trilogy
    A Wrinkle in Time
    Pride and Prejudice
    Rebecca
    Jane Eyre

Possession by A.S. Byatt is also well worth the time, although it's incredibly dense so it took me awhile to read it.

Light on Snow (Anita Shreve) was very good. On the recommendation of chicagoturtle, I just finished (and loved) How to be Lost (author's last name is Ward).

The Red Tent was really really good. It is by Anita Diamant. Also, Dive From Claushen's Pier by Ann Packer was fantastic!
