I recently got a job as a long-term sub, or as it is known in my district, a supply teacher. I got a call from the district HR office telling me to come in and fill out some paperwork, and that my start date is August 29 (two weeks after the first day of school). That's all I know about the position. What do I do from there? Should I e-mail the principal and ask if I could come in and observe for a day or two? I don't really know where to go from here, and I really don't want to come in there blind. Any advice from former or current LTS's, or those of you who have had a LTS, would be greatly appreciated!

I would try contacting the principal to see if you can schedule a meeting with the teacher of the class you will be covering. Observing wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'd email the teacher you're replacing and try to get as much info as you can from her while she's still there.
