Take it or leave it? It's funny but i didnt notice until today that Princess Kate wore sleeves (http://tinyurl.com/ptqcbkl) When i thought of sleeves on a gown i always imagined a severe, old fashioned, school marm-esque kind of frock. But after googling, I was surprised at how many gorgeous gowns have sleeves. I think sheer ones with lace and designs like Kate are my favorite. My wedding dress is sleeveless and i love it, but sleeves might've been nice too.
I looked into a long-sleeved dress since I got married in -28C weather. Outside. But I couldn't find one. I saw lots of cute ones online, but in real life, no such deal.
I like the sheer sleeves too. I like shorter sleeves too, probably even more. I'm not big on strapless, although of course it can look lovely.
I wore strapless, but I like the look of long sleeves on some dresses. I mostly like the lacy sleeves, like Kate's.
All of my friends had lacy, long-sleeved dresses, and about half of those also had the high lace necklines. It made me sweat looking at that. I got married in mid-October. It was around 70 degrees. No sleeves for me! I had short sleeves and a sweatheart neckline. I'm not a huge fan of lace, and my boobs are too big for me to be comfortable in halters and strapless. I'd have roasted in a long-sleeved dress.
I really like the look. A lace shrug or shawl could give a similar effect if you've already gotten the dress.
I love it. I especially like ones that have elbow-length, sheer lace sleeves. This is the closest example I could find in a quick google search. http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2013...-lace-3-4-sleeve-wedding-dress/671748649.html I'd definitely wear a dress similar to that if/when I get married. I don't like the long sleeves as much as the elbow ones, but love the lacy look. I think that the vast majority of people don't look very good in strapless dresses, and I'm also pretty conservative.
My dress had sheer off the shoulder sleeves. Kind of like a Medieval dress. Sort of these sleeves but a little shorter. I got so many compliments on how it was different from all of those modern dresses. I looked high and low for a dress like that but someone ended up making the sleeves for me! It came out great.
I like the look on other people! I thought I wanted long, lacy sleeves when I got married, but it didn't look right on me. I'm glad I went strapless though because it was about 95 degrees during my evening, outdoor reception in June!
I don't care for the look in most circumstances. There are a few pretty long-sleeved dresses, but most of them look bad to me. With that having been said, there is definitely a market for them. I live in Mormonville, so there are always lots of brides searching for "modest" wedding dresses. That doesn't always mean long sleeves, but it can.
We all had sleeves in the 80's - the bigger and poufier the better! Mine were beautiful though, very reminiscent of Princess Diana's only in lace.
Omg, i love this look. A girl wore a white, medieval dress to our prom and some people were making fun of her like"ha ha look at the goth" but i thought it was really pretty. Bell sleeves off the shoulder:wub:
I thought I wanted sleeves for my wedding dress or at least something over the shoulders to keep the dress up. I had a bad experience with a sleeveless dress once that wouldn't stay in place. I couldn't find many dresses with sleeves in my price range and none with long sleeves. I did consider a strapless with a little jacket or wrap. The wrap was pretty but too expensive.
The original dress I ordered was sleeveless that came with a sheer wrap. I had someone take the wrap and make sleeves out of it. Worked out great and didn't cost too much extra.
I wore my mother's dress from the 50's. It had cap sleeves and long fingerless gloves. I absolutely loved it.
I absolutely loved Kate's dress!! And if I get married again, I will probably wear something like it. When I married my ex, I wore a sleeveless, modern dress.
I was not a fan of sleeves on wedding dresses until I saw Kate's dress. I will definitely wear a dress like that when I marry a prince.
