I am teaching morning kindergarten this coming year and I plan to implement literacy work stations. I can integrate science, social studies, creative arts... with literacy but being only a half day program, I need to have my math centres in the morning as well. My question is: would you have both math and literacy work stations simultaneously each day or would you do literacy 3 days a week and math 2 days a week? I will be teaching literacy concepts during morning meeting and have math instruction every day as well but I am wondering if it would be more effective to have them engaged in math practice and literacy practice independent of one another? Thanks in advance for any feedback
I plan to incorporate math stations in with my literacy stations. I have time for direct instruction in both reading and math, but not time for stations for both subjects like I do in all day k.
