this may sound simple but for some reason all kids I have ever worked with love this ... get their attention initially and say Ok I'm thinking of an animal (or vegetable or whatever) This animal lives in the sea (hands go up immediately) take guesses and keep giving clues. Sometimes children want to have turns themselves. I am not sure what the magic of this is, but in many years it has never failed as a simple we are waiting and the kids are going crazy stategy.

Yes, my kids love to play Blurt and I'm not sure why. I say 'I'm thinking of a word that means ...." and they try to guess it. The rule is that once someone blurts out an answer they don't get another try. Which is very hard to do! They love this game.
