DH got me a rolling tote that I used to visit DD last weekend and a couple of new orchid plants. DD got me a great book--the Canterbury Tales updated and in cartoon form. She's going to get me some pj's this week. DH and I finally made a decision to order a new table and chairs for our kitchen, so we kept everything else very simple. The best gift, of course, is having not just DD but also my best friend visiting all week.
I didn't get (nor did I want) anything 'material' but I feel like I got everything. It was my baby's first Christmas!!! I was also able to shop for my 5 nieces & nephew for the first time ever. I was so excited I couldn't sleep. One of my nieces loves Science & said she wants to be a microbiologist (I didnt know what that was when I was in third grade)....so I was thrilled when I found this for her: I set up a little Christmas table. I have always wanted to set up a table for each holiday but was never able to. Everything is mostly sentimental for Meg's first Xmas. On the Christmas table I have: --A 99 cents Christmas tree (lol), --an apple & cinnamon candle from husband's job, --a card that says "For Baby's First Christmas"---we each wrote a message to Megan, --a pink Christmas/Santa Claus hat that says "My First Christmas", --a "Handprint Ornament for Baby" (I put Megan's hand in it, so it's her handprint and when it dries it can be used as an ornament for the tree, --a framed picture of the 3 of us, given to us as a gift by, of all people, our apartment complex manager. LOL, we went to a dinner, she took our pic and framed it and surprised us with it. That's actually the very 1st framed picture of us 3 together. --On Christmas morning Megan grabbed some gift wrapping paper and had a blast with it. I added it to the Christmas table.
I got a blanket, a candle and an angel from my daughters, and my darling husband surprised...actually shocked my socks off...with a diamond ring. My wedding ring was in really bad shape, mostly because it was cheap when we bought it, and the channel diamonds kept falling out. My new ring is stunning.
I got: From Hubby- Boots Brother- video game (Professor Layton) Parents- camera Mother in law (she drew my name)- dress and leggints from The Loft
My MIL surprised my DH and I with a professional hand sketched/drawn picture of our girls based on a photo. She wanted us to open it first thing this morning and said "this will make or break my Christmas". Having no idea what it was, my DH and I were very worried opening it. It brought tears to my eyes as well as my MIL and she is not an emotional person. Truly an amazing gift from the heart!!!
My husband got me one of those soda making things. I had not mentoioned to him that I wanted one, so it was a big surprise.
I'm a little fuzzy at the moment. Julia got me a set of Disney ornaments. Kira got me an ornament that says "mom's favorite child" with her name and the date on it. Brian got me a lovely bracelet. Peter got me 2 running suits (perfect comfy clothes for a cold winter), another snowman for my collection, a watch (to replace the one I lost trick-or-treating), a blanket from my school's school store( that took some doing on his part, and it's incredibly warm!!!) and I don't remember what else. My mom got me a lovely Christmas tablecloth and a fleece vest. I think Peter's mom gave us a check or a gift card; we had planned to wait to open them so I'm fuzzy on the details there. She did get each of the kids a Disney gift card, which they opened up yesterday morning. I'll make sure they spend them on something special next summer. We had a wonderful Christmas morning, the kids were delighted with all their treasures.
Alice, I'm glad the children got the peace and joy of being able to open their gifts on Christmas morning.
We got: A griddle (which needs to be returned b/c we already have one) A $50 gift card to olive garden A basket that has 2 soup bowls and a variety of soup mixes and crackers I got: A Kindle Touch 3G (from work christmas party) An iPhone 4S (from my amazing BF) Candle holders, candles and tealights $50 gift card to B&N $50 cash $25 Amex Gift Card Clothes Slippers BF got: All in 1 razor set Clothes $100 cash $25 gift card Stuff for his office Car scraper Two B&N classic leather bound books I think that's it...
The look on my DD face was priceless when she opened her Kenny/Tim tickets. She had been told that DH couldn't get tickets, when they arrived, DH told her that they were Neil Diamond tickets for me. The run across the living room when DS opened the package that DD bought, with her own money, for him. The look on DS face when he realized that his letterman's jacket was here. We'd told him that the place lost it.
kc~I saw the pic on facebook and that ring is beautiful!! He did a really great job! band~that snow globe is so sweet and of course it'd be pandas! Lily~I am so jealous!! We went to London this summer and fell in love with England. We have plans to go back in a couple of years with our daughter (who will be 10 at the time)...I would really like to spend some time there for Christmas! Enjoy! We kept it small this Christmas: I received a NookColor from hubs, a fleece blanket and bath set from brother-in-law, and an outfit from my sister. My hubs received an Xbox 360 w/ Kinect from us (so that's really for the whole family when he comes back!) and an AR-15. My daughter received a guitar, two Disney movies, and an Ipod touch from Santa; a new bedspread and wallet for her bday (she was born on Christmas); some new jeans and some black lil kitten heels. She also got some nail polish, a watch, lip gloss, and an Itunes gift card, a dippin dots maker, a crystal growing kit, and some little things in her stocking at her grammy's house.
Daughter gave me a pen from my alma mater. Son gave me The Muppets Christmas Carol on dvd. Daughter gave me two beautiful necklaces. Husband gave me a glass blowing 2 day workshop!! Mom gave me money to provide my children a wonderful Christmas, without her help, things would have been pretty minimal.
It sounds like everyone had a wonderful Christmas. We had a very busy day yesterday. Starting at DH's parents' home. His niece is 2.5 yrs old. So stinking cute. Everything she opened she asked if she could have it, and when someone said yes she said thank you. The best part was when she started taking presents out of her stocking. The first thing she pulled out were some socks we had put it. She said "SOCKS! I love socks can I have them." I was spoiled again this year. From my mom's parents: money From my mom and Step dad: a sweater dress, a long sleeve shirt, and a new area rug for the living room. From my dad's mom: a sweater dress From my dad: 100 dollar gift card to amazon From Dh's parents: two fleece sweaters, slippers, two books, long underwear for skiing, new sheets, socks. From SIL: fleece pull over, a book and real simple magazine. From DH: kindle touch, ski mittens, kitchen gadgets, socks. From a friend: gift basket of food. I'm sure I am forgetting something. OHHHHH DH got from his parents a fire proof safe. Which is awesome. We can put jewelry and papers in it plus all his hunting guns. Dh also got a 40 dollar gift card from my mom and step dad plus another 50 gift card to best buy from my dad and his wife. And my grandparents gave him a memory card for his camera.
I selfishly enjoyed the company of my boys Christmas eve. No GFs and no sports - just family. DH broke the rules and got me a Pandora bracelet. He picked out a couple of beads but I'll probably buy cheaper ones to complete it. It'll be an easy gift for the next few years - just buy me a bead! He's really one of the best! Right now he's out buying the family a Kinect. We got $100 from my mother and decided the whole family would enjoy it. I want one of those dance games.
Mary, I got a Kinect for the family this year. I've had to make them turn it off several times in fear of it overheating! They absolutely LOVE it. I got the Michael Jackson game for it, and that's been a HUGE hit.
Thank you to my FB friends! My mom is chewing me out for putting a pic on there, because she is sure we are going to be robbed now. But I had to show it off a little! MM, we absolutely love our Kinect. We play it every night, in some way. The girls got the new Kinect sports game (with football, which they love), and Kung Fu panda. Oh, and we have Just Dance (III-I think?), and it is GREAT exercise.
I am an only child, and I am the only grandchild on my dad's side. I get presents from Dad & Mom, Gran, and my aunt & uncle. My grandmother lives with them. I am fortunate that I am able to buy everything I need and most everything I want on my own. When I was younger, everyone bought me presents. Since I was a teenager, I receive gift cards and money. I purchase my own items later. I love shopping. This year I received the following: $100 Shell Gas Card $25 gift cards to my four favorite in-town restaurants $50 Old Navy Card $50 Kohl's Card I also received cash that I used to purchase these items today. new pair of Sperry Top-Siders one pair of jeans two bracelets one watch My Christmas stocking contained: lots of candy & nuts 10 pairs of socks $25 iTunes card fleece lounge pants underwear McDonald's Gift Card
A "teaser" photo from my new lens that I took today. I absolutely LOVE the lens!!! IMG_8362 by AdventuresOfACrazyLab, on Flickr
kc--The ring is absolutely fabulous!! Your hubby is definitely a keeper. I want to re-do my ring so bad--I am hinting at hubby to do this for my birthday. This year I got: Kindle Fire with cover and a year of Amazon Prime Gift Cards to various restaurants Pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet Money An LSU flag to hang outside my house on Jan 9 (when they beat Bama again) a wireless keyboard a Shark steam mop a shirt a Sephora makeup kit My kids got $1000 each from us. I am tired of shopping for things and not getting the right size or color so a couple of years ago my husband said what does every teenager always want--cash.
chem~that's a good idea about the cash! And I'm sure that LSU will beat Bama!! nikki~that's a great shot!
nikki...I think my next big purchase will be a new camera. Great shot and beautiful dog! kc...speaking of cameras, I want to see a picture of that ring!
Band - What a lovely gift from your daughter. As for what I "got" ... lots of great things, but what I cherish most was the family time and down time.
My family doesn't go too crazy at Christmas time. My parents are divorced, and my dad always gives me $100 cash. My mom bought me a jacket at Kohl's a few months back. I also got a few gift cards, some cash from the grandparents, my favorite perfume (Vera Wang Princess) from my boyfriend, and some scentsy stuff.
I got the chance to spend time with my family. In terms of gifts, I got: Target Gift Card Toaster Oven Wii Fit Plus new bath set (shower curtain, hooks, rug) new bath towels glass storage dishes fleece shirt ornament decorative snowman cash
I had a nice Christmas. My favorites were: cast iron griddle cast iron pancake griddle fancy yarn to make a ruffled scarf neat kitchen gadgets My absolute favorite gift, however, was a new Canon macro lens from my husband. I love macro photography and taking close-ups of insects and flowers. The only problem is I have a long wait until the bugs and flowers come out.
LSU better beat Bama. My cousin dates a key LSU player and he was with us for Christmas. Look at the pics on FB!!
