Maybe it's the facebook-er in me, but I would love it if we had the option to "like" a post. Sometimes I don't necessarily have anything to add to the topic, but I want a user to know that I loved what they had to say. I know I can make a whole new reply that says :yeahthat: or :thumb: or :agreed: or  or even :2up: but many times, I just wish there was a "like" button.

I thought I was the only one that felt that way. LOL Yes, I think we need a "like" button.

I'm a baby facebooker and I find myself forgetting it isn't on this forum and want it, HOWEVER, I can't help but to wonder if the threads will be shorter if we added that. The reason I say that is because most people won't just put one of those emoticons. They will generally add something else even if it is just because the emoticon looks too bare. Forcing people to say something, leads to the potential for longer sentences that we can feed off of. That would be an interesting study. I don't know how you would set up the parameters. Who needs a college research project?

    OK, the voice of dissent.

For starters, I'm not on facebook; that's probably obvious.

But simply saying "like" doesn't add to the discussion. I think most people who want to agree with a post say a little something about why, and the discussion continues.

I think a "like" smiley will effectively kill too many threads.

I like the idea of a like post. Look at the number of times a thread has been viewed versus the number of posts. Sometimes I view something, see that someone has written what I would write, and I don't want to clutter it up by simply saying that I agree.

I've looked into it and a like button is not available.

I seem to remember a feature for "thanking" a user for their post... I may look into that and see if it could be used like a like button.

Oops, was that still there? Since no one ever got into buying/selling their stuff on here, I removed it. It's gone now.

Okay... I found a solution, but how much do you guys [IMG] me? It would take a bit of work to implement and I'm reeeeaaaaalllly busy! ;)

I'm not sure I like that image, either... I'd want to make a new one.

I think that works just fine Amanda!

Alice, I don't think it would hinder discussion as much as you may think. Like someone else mentioned, I read a lot more threads than I respond to, and I think those who regularly post will continue to do so anyway. We like to "see" ourselves talk, I guess.
