Looks very nice! I love the color combination! Where are your shelves from, or did they come with your room? I need another shelf and those look perfect!
The shelves came with the room I got the white cart from the trash from next door haha Those have my hardback picture books. Thanks to the lovely Upsadaisy for her nonfiction books
I got the baskets from the 99 cent only store The lady thought I was nuts, used every single one of them too
I LOOOVVVVE the colors of your library. If I didn't already have about a million primary colored baskets, I would get those cute, bright colors! Looks so good... I hope you're proud!!
Wow...it is beautiful! Do yo umind pm-ing me with how you organize your books...How do you pick which books go in each basket?
This may be a dumb question, but I am not an elementary school teacher. Do you guys have to buy the books for your library or are the given/donated to you? Looks good, BTW
It really depends on the school. Both of the schools I've worked at give you "some" books. (Not really enough to start out with) All of my other books I've either bought (book clubs/garage sales/ ebay) or had donated by teachers who were leaving.
Your library looks amazing! A big project complete - Congrats! Do you have pictures of the entire classroom?
All the books are leveled. I had my little 11 year old sister level all of them. It's great when she did it because it went pretty fast for me. She did great too The books were all donated and purchased
I am working on the rest of the classroom today and tomorrow. I have to go back to Boston for a few days and when I return I will work more. I am hoping to be done by Tuesday. NTO starts on Wednesday and I want to be done with my classroom.
posters The posters were from Lakeshore Learning, the whole set. The reading poster with the kids around it and stuff I got from a different teacher store last year I think it's fun and the inviting (makes reading look so much fun )
Wow! Your library is the greatest. It is colorful, leveled and organized. That took a lot of persistence. Glad you shared the pictures of your library with us.
It looks great! For the person who asked if teachers have to buy their books... we get lots from Scholastic points, too. The more our parents buy, the more points we get for free books for the classroom.
Very cute! Looks like you have a really great library going!! Thanks for sharing the pics-- I like the colored basket idea... you might just see that in my classroom pics next year ;-)
What? An 11 year old leveled the books and I cannot figure out how to do it. Hahaha! She's what, a 5th grader? That explains it, I'm NOT smarter than those brainiacs All kidding aside, I do not know how to correctly Level my library. Pointers?
I thought some of those books looked familiar!! And so does the rug. I wanted to get that rug at Big Lots if they had it in the blue shades, but they didn't. Your colors are beautiful.
Thank you!!! Your books are incredible. I am going back home soon hopefully and I can work some more on the room. I liked the rug and it worked well with my colors of the baskets
As far as how to level the books I use this website: http://src.scholastic.com/ecatalog/default.asp?UID=B3AC402968CE415A9AA0000AFB0A6332&subt=0&Test=NA Well my sister did haha
