I actually really like this tree! So cute! That would be a cute one to put in your classroom when you get one!

Do you celebrate Chanukah as well? I see a menorah on your table...(I'm an equal opportunity celebrator myself- my sister is married to a 'Chanukah' boy and my family celebrates Christmas...)

I don't think that is a menorah, I think it is the one for kwanzaa.

Yeah, it's a menorah. You might be confused by the red candelabra on the mantle.

A Kwanzaa candle holder (kinara)has 7 candles- colors are red, greens and black- I thought the one on the mantle looked Scandanavian- really pretty! No, I was referring to the menorah on the side table- It's a menorah- 8 candles for the 8 nights and a shammas (helper candle)...As I said, I'm an equal opportunity celebrator...

Wow-I missed that whole string of questions for me. Ha!

We do have a menorah by the TV. I bought it for my classroom a few years ago, and was not allowed to bring it in this year. I've always been really interested in the holiday and the religious ideas behind it. So we're easing into celebrating it. We're not Jewish, so there is no one to teach us. But I know the story behind it and love it. I also have Hanukkah socks and bought Star of David cookies this year, and everyone in my family got Hanukkah cards last year. Superficial, I know. But I flew out Sunday and was unable to light the candles this year. Next year I want to learn each night's symbolism and do it right.

The candelabra on the mantle is from my husband's family, as they are part Swedish. Neither of us have any idea about that, so that's another project for me to research. We also just put up the orange donkey/horse that is from Sweden, although I don't know what that means, either.

Upload them on a picture hosting site, such as www.picturetrail.com

Then, they'll give you the URL image code you need to copy & paste to post them on discussion boards.

I just figured this out today. I uploaded my pics at www.photobucket.com and there is an image code that they gave so i copied and pasted it. Very easy.

Here's a few pictures of our place! This is our first year married - so it was exciting to decorate our new place! :) We still get a real tree, I don't think I could ever not! lol I also collect Nativity sets - I think I have 35 displayed this year! And you can kind of see the awesome Rudolph and Abominable Snowman stockings my mom made for us! :) This is a fun thread!!

I think it has to do with St. Lucia.

    http://www.vasaorder.com/lucia.htm
I found some pics of 4 candles and some 5. So, I don't think the number of the candles on it has a specific meaning like the menorah.
