Haha, I actually kind of decided to do that last week and just concentrate on LPC licensing, and low and behold I got a call for an interview two days ago. Go in, good interview and got an offer late this afternoon for a counselor at an elementary. I sign my contract later this week and also take all my documentation to HR at the same time. The commute is an hour, but the salary is significantly higher than where I live. I am beyond grateful. <3 The admins I interviewed with were nice, likeable and very approachable, which is a good sign. So....I think I ended up applying to at least 10 districts and probably about 35-40 openings from the first week of July to now (I got started late due to a couple of family medical emergencies at the end of the school year). Had 3 interviews, and another one which was canceled as they hired from within. I guess my point is that don't give up hope. I had been out of the education biz for several years during grad school and I am thrilled to be back. :thumb:
Happy for you, glad you didn't give up. I'm not either.....I've done that in the past, which is why I still don't have a job. BUT THIS IS MY YEAR!
Congratulations! (And a side note- I can't wait until I read read the phrase "let it go" without hearing the song in my head. Kindergarten really did a number on me last year! )
Yes to this!! I keep hearing a cross between Wicked and Frozen every time I hear that song, lol. Idina Menzel has such a terrific voice; I think she could sing in a garbage can and sound great.
Don't give up, don't!! And I will say this--I am not considering this a done deal until I sign the contract. I know what you went through and it was horrific; with that said, I think you also may have helped a lot of us rightfully err on the side of caution. I know that I plan to do so. My kids, my mom and my boyfriend know, but I'm keeping it quiet until I have signed and it's official. I for one am grateful that you shared your experience because I know I'm definitely more aware because of it, and what others have told me (education isn't the only profession where people are 'promised' jobs that never materialize). I wish you the best--and yes, you CAN get hired after school starts!
