Okay, stupid question time, lesson cycles are the steps you take in a lesson plan?

For example, stating objectives, standards of the knowledge that is being learned, teacher showing input, modeling, guided practice, etc., right?

I've never heard of a lesson cycle. Is someone in your school making up new language that we all will have to learn next year???

I am pretty sure it is a lesson plan model that includes chosing what you will teach and analyzing you student makeup before planning.

I know that we use the 5E model of lesson planning. If I look it up on the internet, it sometimes will say 5E Lesson Cycle

    Engage
    Explore
    Explain
    Elaborate
    Evaluate

Then there are others that have way more steps like:

    Anticipatory set (focus)
    Purpose (objective)
    Input
    Modeling (show)
    Guided Practice (follow me)
    Checking for Understanding (CFU)
    Independent Practice
    Teach your partner
    Closure

Search "lesson cycle" in quotes on google and you will see a lot.

Seems like just different words for the same old thing.
