A Very Cool Learning Club -We Have Fun!

We have a learning club at our school. Last year, the 4/5 grades did buddy reading with 1st graders. We need other ideas in addition to this one. What kinds of projects would you do with these 4/5 grade students, who stay afterschool for fun learning or to help others?

FYI- we try to stay away from collecting money or doing anything outside school hours due to busing. Although we may collect water bottles to help fund any projects/parties.

Could you do some in-depth studying of topics that classes typically can't devote lots of time to?

Anything from Dinosaurs to Whales to the Loch Ness Monster--I think my own kids would have LOVED to have the time and resources at school to hit some of those topics.

Do they have access to computers after school? There are all kinds of projects they could work on for ThinkQuest, whether they compete or not. My kids have loved working on TQ over the years! http://www.thinkquest.org/en/projects/index.html
