I realize this is kind of a long shot, especially since this is such short notice, but I'll try anyways. I recently found out I will be watching over a 3, 5 and 7 year old during a wedding reception on Saturday. I am currently going to school for elementary education but I have not had any contact with children this young in years. I have no idea how long I will have these children, I am taking them to the hotel room while the reception goes on. I wanted to try and do some fun learning activities and crafts, but the age differences are throwing me for a loop. I wanted to know if there were any games, learning activities, crafts (regular or Christmas related) that you knew of that would suit everyone... TIA!
Yes, a challenge! My daughter is 4 and loves to play with thin foam sheets. I'll draw out letters or pictures and she'll cut them out and glue together. The older kid might like to do the drawing for the younger ones. Cut and staple the foam in a circle for a crown or to make a pretend watch. I'm thinking you can get an hour out of that. They'd probably be ready for action afterwards, so I wonder if you can take a mini field trip and tour the hotel floors a bit, go get ice from the ice machines or go on a scavenger hunt for letters of the alphabet or 10 things that are red. Half hour. Coming back you can help them make sock puppets with google eyes and a red felt tongue. Come up with a variety of characters. The older one can direct the younger ones on the script to their play. They can hide behind the bed and hold up the puppets for a stage. Another hour. Light snacks, read some books, then get ready for bed. Set a positive, adventuresome tone, call yourselves the 'fearless foursome' or something, have fun and Good Luck!! Hope they save some champagne for you haha

If you dare go shopping Michaels has some cute inexpensive ready-made craft projects. Make sure the parents provide you with snacks or money and you know what they are allowed to watch on t.v. Can they swim or are you willing to take them swimming? That would probably be a treat.
My suggestion is to go to www.Crayola.com . You won't need many supplies. You could also make gingerbread houses with graham crackers, frosting, and candies. I'm going to be doing something with my two tutoring kids on Sat. I have tons of leftover crafting materials in my garage. Enjoy.
Yeh that's the thing, I don't know the kids or the parents yet, it's my mom's CEO's wedding and her neices... I was just at Michaels actually!! LOL. Swimming would always be fun but it's a bit chilly now (I'm not used to it either, I live in Florida and it is NEVER this cold this early!!) Thanks for the site Upsadaisy!
I would get some playdough--or make some. Get some rolling pins at Michales, child sissors, a cookie cutter, a garlic press, plastic knives, and you will be busy for hours. Bring a few things for individual exploration: a deck of cards, a jump rope, jacks, pencils and pens with paper.
