So on a whim yesterday, I decided to email principals that had open slots on the district website. Low and behold one othem ACTUALLY responded and offered me an interview for today. I AM BEYOND NERVOUS! I have no idea why this interviewing process been so nervewrecking for me. Tons of ideas are going through my head and I don't know how to stop these jitters.
Wow! Way to go! Just breathe and have everything ready to go, so that you don't forget anything! Good luck!
On every single interview I've gone on-- even ones where I know I'll be signing a contract-- I've been nervous. Consider it "normal" to be nervous, but try your best to not let that get in the way I'm so happy that you took the chance with emailing the principals and now you have an interview. Good luck!!
I think everyone's nervous in this market. I am an experienced teacher and I've been more nervous than ever before. We all know how hard it is to get a job right now. But don't let that slow you down. You know what to do and say, and if you can relax, it will all come out and they will see the real you. Don't forget to smile and enjoy the opportunity to discuss education with like-minded professionals. That mindset has helped me quite a bit. Good luck!
I'm the "queen of nerves!" I'm still nervous from my interview on Wednesday. There's a veteran teacher at our school, who says she'll never leave our campus, because she doesn't want to ever interview again!
I was gripping the steering wheel extra tight to keep from shaking on my last interview -- everyone understands your nerves! The good thing about a last-minute, late-season interview is that they'll be looking to move quick, you could get an offer in just hours or days! :thumb: GOOD LUCK!
Good luck, take a deep cleansing breath and reaffirm why you know you should get a position and rock it!
OMGSH! Sooo... I don't want to over think it, but I left the office feeling...okay... I was so nervous during the questions and had tons of brain farts, due to the stare of one particular interviewer, but once the formal questions ended and we started talking like normal human beings, it felt right!! I was interviewed by the principal, assistant principal, first and kindergarten chair, for a K/1st split classroom. The interview itself is a huge blur, but once they asked if I had any questions for them, I asked about this specific program that competes nation wide and BAM...they all started talking at once...We all engaged in a conversation about extracurricular activities, the military community increasing and I felt more at ease discussing these things with them. The principal ended the conversation abruptly and mentioned, while I was walking out, that she had already called one of my references prior to the interview. So now the waiting game. I don't want to get my hopes up, but if it's meant to be, it will be. OH! and thank you all SOOOOOOO much for the support! I read this post before heading out and it gave me the strength I needed. Due to the military, we live in a small town away from family and friends, so reading your kind and supportive words truly helped. Thank you guys so much
That's a good sign that one of your reference's was called. They don't tend to do that unless they are serious! Good luck!
No! The other were so wrapped up in the conversation we were having that she just mentioned the possibility of the classes becoming independent due to increasing enrollment. She stood up, I followed suit, thanked them all and it was then that she mentioned calling one of my references. I was totally caught off guard by the comment. I already sent each of them a thank you e-mail earlier this afternoon, so we'll see.
SEND THANK YOU EMAILS THIS EVENING AND THANK YOU CARDS OUT TOMORROW!! Sending good vibes-- sounds like you did a great job
I've been watching the Olympics -- One of our gymnasts said she calls that nervous feeling EXCITEMENT! I also have extreme nervousness thinking about inerviews and during interviews. I don't understand it because I feel I am a confident person. Let's re-name nervousness -- EXCITEMENT!
Hope you got it! I like the idea of calling nervousness excitement! I was not as nervous at my last interview and it went great. I didn't get the job, but was told I was second choice and that I blew them away. The p said he wished he had another position (it went to someone who had been subbing there already). I kept telling myself, "believe in yourself" and it really helped. Sounds silly, but it worked!
