Wednesday is our last day with students. I need either a fun activity or short video (45-50 minutes) that the students would enjoy to watch. Any ideas?
A student brought Paperclips in for me to use in the coming weeks. I have never seen it - would this be age appropriate for an ending video for Ancient Civ?
Paperclips would be fine for 6th graders. Have they already had a Holocaust unit? If so, it'll be even better.
We have to keep videos to a minimum, so my middle school kids love playing Bingo. I give them a blank 5x5 board and put a list of a BUNCH of terms we covered in class on an overhead. They fill in their own board with randomly chosen words from the list. Then, read off definitions of the words and they have to find the appropriate word on their boards. I rewarded the kids with small candies I got from Sam's Club. You can have a few winners before the kids clear the boards and start over. For "markers" you can have the kids just make a small x in each box with a highlighter or marker for the first round, then switch to a different symbol (a check mark, circle, etc) for subsequent rounds. My kids BEG to play this, and you can get almost everyone to win in about 45 minutes. PLUS it's educational!
