Tomorrow is-FINALLY-the last day of school! It is bittersweet for me, because I have been on bedrest for the last 2 1/2 weeks so I haven't seen my students for a long time, but I know I will have them again next year in 7th math, so that makes me feel better. My daughter, on the other hand, is ECSTATIC. For some reason, she just didn't connect with her teacher this year. She didn't dislike her, but they just didn't click in that lower elementary way. DD is kind of...hands off...I don't know how else to describe her. She's not very emotional or "out there", so that has a lot to do with it. But needless to say, she has been counting down days! And...teacher or not, I am very happy about not having to worry about homework every night. I hate homework! Helping dd with hers makes me think very hard about what I send home with my own students...
My seniors have eight days of class left, then three finals days, three days of grad practice, and graduation on the 10th. I'm ready for this year to be over, and they most definitely are!
Err...now it should say today! Oh, well, maybe others can borrow this thread when their last day is tomorrow...
I have to put up with (just kidding) the students until June 10th. And then teachers are working until June 16th. It'll be very bittersweet as I'm leaving the school this year--- but I have another classroom to start working on in a great new school
Yippee for dd being on vacation! Now she can keep you company and fetch you stuff during the day . I'm not done until the 18th, but final exams start June 10th so that's kind of my "done" date since giving and grading exams is fairly painless. My own kids finish the 18th as well.
Enjoy kcjo...... I decided to start my summer vacation about three weeks ago..... I can't actually remember how many now... We just back home from several days in a mountain cabin.......
I am already enjoying! School's out for summer. Yippee! Too bad the weather is totally crappy today. It's cold, super windy, and raining. Blech!
Thanks chemteach! I actually just found out yesterday I'll be teaching science for grades 3 to 6, with 2 sections each. It'll be in an independent Catholic school.
How cool! That sounds like it will be a neat job. I teach math to grades 3 to 6 and I really enjoy it. I would much rather teach science, though. TOday was my last day with the kids. Bittersweet, but I'm happy because you can tell that most were just done with school. My official last day of work is next Friday. For the rest of this week and next week I will be working on report cards, cleaning up, trainings, observing other schools, helping teachers out.
Friday cant come soon enough! I hate having a whole week to end school ..you can only try and stretch activities so much! K and 8 are done as they had graduation today. My room is basically packed and ready to move but I still have a few piles on my desk that I need to go through!
Last day for the seniors is officially a week from Friday, but I'm sure I'll be getting the motherload of late work until the bitter end on June 18th.
Tues, May 25th is it for my district. Well, if your daughter was in my class, we'd probably get along just splendidly because I'm pretty much the same way. As long as the student respects me, sits down, listens, & does what they're supposed to, I'm great! That's not saying I'm not interactive because teachers should be. I'm just more on the serious side.
