Hi...has anyone ever laminated the two-pocket portfolio folders? (They also have the three prongs.) I'm not sure if I would be able to cut the lamination at the pockets and prongs and have it stay in tact??? I'm looking for a way to "prolong" the life of the folder. (I already have them, or I would have bought the plastic ones. :()

    Thanks!!

hmm..I know you can laminate a folder with pockets and cut the opening with a razor, but I don't know how you could make it work with prongs. Good luck!

I would worry about the extra width damaging the laminator...

You can laminate the twin pocket folders, but NOT the ones with prongs.

I've had a set of laminated pocket folders (no prongs) that I've used for 4 years now, and they are still holding up!

I laminated them last year and they worked out perfect! And they did have the prongs in them. I took them to Office Max last year when they had the free laminating and they had no problem doing them. I had them laminated open just like the regular folders. I used an Exacto knife to cut around the prongs and they worked out great!

I always lamintate mine with prongs for my behavior folders. It works, just labor intensive because you have to cut around the pockets.

So, Emma and bakingdiva...do you laminate them with the "middle prong part" open or closed to one side? (Does that make sense??)

Thanks for letting me know it can be done!! :)

I do closed to one side, then you can just slide the Exacto blade up the fold to open it up. Makes sense in my mind, hope you understand what I mean..

So can you laminate 9"x13" manilla envelopes, and then just cut the opening open?

I do it the exact same way. A little time consuming but not to hard to do at all.

I just finished laminating mine with the prongs. Both the machine and my folders are a-o-k :). Once you get on a roll the cutting of the pockets/prongs wasn't so bad. Some schools don't allow you to laminate folders with prongs so you might want to check, it get's kind of noisy :).
