I was listen to the radio in my son's truck and Lady GaGa came on
I commented on how the beat was and I bet it was good to dance to (I had just finished watch Saturday Night Fever and was remembering my disco days.) My son gave me a look! I said "what?" he said "look at Her videos." I thought that she was kind of like Cher, and Madonna.
So when I got home I got on Youtube.

Holy Smokes did I get an education "Alejandro" Looked like porn.
This is what our teens are watching?
I thought Madonna's "snow cones" and Cher's tattoo were something but Lady GaGa wow after watching "Alejandro" I felt I had to say 10 Hail Marys and I am not even Catholic.
I am I just being and old fogy?

No. I love her music, but I'm really NOT a fan of how much sex is in the media now. We were flipping through channels last night and caught some of the dating in the dark. REALLY? It's getting quite ridiculous-a race to see how much you can get, how soon. I friend former students just to keep tabs on them, and it saddens me to see their posts and how sexual they are. I teach elementary, so I guess I like to stay in my childhood bubble.

You're not an old fogey. I'm 26 and get disgusted on what's on TV. I like Lady Gaga's songs because they're fun and catchy but I don't like her videos and I don't really enjoy her persona...I'd probably never go see her in concert for that reason.

One thing is at least Lady Gaga is of-age unlike this one:

I like Lady Gaga's music. I don't watch music videos so I don't really know in that case. But I LOVE True Blood on HBO, and I am pretty liberal and open-minded, but sometimes the sex and nakedness and gore on that show goes a little too far in my opinion. You want to show boob, fine, it's on HBO, but then they just stand their naked and have a whole conversation. Ok, you can put a shirt on.

I had to stop watching True Blood because I felt like I was watching porn at times! I loved the book series and wanted to follow the TV series but it was a bit much for me, lol.

    I saw her in concert.
Great show, very entertaining (she makes her concerts kind of like a play..it reminded us of Wizard of Oz). But, definitely NOT for kids.

I like her music but I haven't watched any of her videos. I just watched this video and I agree with you, it is too much in some scenes... She really likes to push the envelope. It seems that her style is taking a lot from Madona's.

I think it's incredibly inappropriate! Ca$he and Katy Perry are two others I can't stand! I may not be an old foggy, but I am pretty out of touch with the pop scene of late. I have also decided I am ok with that. If I had kids I would be seriously scouring what they are listening to and have big conversations about what the music is really about.

    I hate Lady Gaga.
And, I will probably forbid my future children from listening to any music with words. When I had a student singing about 'taking a ride on your disco stick' a few years ago, I about had a heart attack!
And, lyrics from songs like "Carry Out" by Timbaland/Justin Timberlake are soooooooooo bad!

That's the exact same line I posted last week or so when discussing Lady Gag-me! I couldn't believe it! Eek!

I had no idea she's been around that long.

We don't really listen to pop music...we are more of a country music people. I know there are some lyrics, but not quite as bad & sooo many as the "main stream" music. I have yet been to a country concert where I was like I couldn't take my kids here. I took my friend at 4 yrs to Faith & Tim before they were married. We all had fun & loved it. I also took my friends at about 10 to see a couple artists!!!

Lil one wants to see Keith Urban... I said any time!!!

I went to my first Tim McGraw concert and the only reason I wouldn't take my kids is because of the amount of drunk/stoned people on the lawn! Holy cow, I was surprised. I expected drunk, but I didn't really expect to smell marijuana, lol.

I'd definitely pay more for actual seats than let my kids sit on the lawn after that!

I've been to a lawn one too... I was a little surprised...but when I've gone & had seats...there was only 1 that a person didn't know when to say when... just being stupid...

I can't stand Lady Gaga. I do like one song, but her constant over-the-topness just turns me off. I think if she ever portrayed herself as a normal person, then chose her weirdness for her tours and appearances, then I might look at that as her creative expression. ?? But, I really just think she's gross.
