    Dolly Parton is my cousin.

I met Michael W. Smith at a concert when I was a teenager and we stayed in touch for a while.

When I worked at Disney World I met a TON of celebs...my favorite was Sean Connery.

I love her! Is she as nice as she seems with her on-screen personality?

Just learned this past weekend that my mother-in-law was quite the lady in the 60's while living in LA. She would go to the clubs and try to get invited to parties. She even went to London to stalk the Beatles! I'm waiting to hear more stories, but the one she told at breakfast involved Elvis-he saw her and her friend at the club and asked them to sit with his group. She was NOT an Elvis fan, so they made an excuse to go the bathroom, and actually joined up with Herman's Hermits and went to their party at their house. Elvis actually sent a CAR to the party and demanded they come to HIS party. But they did not. I was dying-who says 'no' to Elvis?? Apparently my mother-in-law. And I have no doubt the story is true. She is quite the lady.

My husband is related to the guy who invented Carvel ice cream. His 2nd cousin or something. People always ask me now about my new last name, because "Carvel" is in it, which is the same last name the guy had too. He shortened it to Carvel.

I went to a private school w/ the 4 kids of actor Richard Thomas. He has girl triplets & an older son.

Anyone heard of the name Agaganian? They're in the racetrack business. I went to the same private school w/ the several kids in that family, even went to their house once.

I ALMOST went to another L.A. school when it becamse time for 7th grade, which I later found out was the school model Tyra Banks went to.

Not to brag, but I went to the private school of some pretty wealthy people in L.A. I wish I was as wealthy as them! ;)

She really is, very kind and generous. When my father passed away she sent us a very nice sympathy card and tickets for our whole family to Dollywood, including lodging. She is super!

Met Susan Zimmerman recently, co-author of Mosaic of Thought. her.

My district is in a high SES town...we have children of sportscasters, athletes, models...I've interacted with many of them in my role as a professional educator.

My husband counts astronauts, admirals and politicians among his classmates...have met quite a few of these as well...count several as friends.

I know Jimmy Wayne, the country singer/musician. His sister is married to my cousin, but he comes to a lot of our family's holiday gatherings! We all spent Christmas Eve together last year. He's one of the nicest folks you'll ever meet.

When I worked at a high-end resort through college, I met Marla Maples (I had no idea who she was at that time).

I saw the actress (I forget her name) who played Peggy on "Married with Children" (also at the resort).

That's all I can think of for now, but I feel like there's been more

Oh, Dolly Parton owned a house on the corner where I used to live in California. I once saw her in town walking (it's a very small village, which might explain why she was out and about alone).

Gee, here's another. Todd Rogers, who was the Olympic volley ball gold medalist, lived in the same village we lived in in California. His son was in my daughter's 1t grade class. After he won gold medal at the Olympics, he took a picture with each student in my daughter's class. :)

I'm friends with several former NFL players. I'm also friends with several present and former members of Congress. Surprisingly some are members of the other party. :p I'm a close friend with a former governor of Colorado (he was actually born and raised in Texas). I have met and talked to Willie Nelson in the Hill Country on several occasions. He's a real character. Wish I had met Dale Earnhardt Sr ....... before he passed on.

Some of my closest friends are well known .... but not necessarily "famous."

I just got the chills! Willie Nelson was one of my Dad's favorite singers, and Dale Earnhardt Sr. was his favorite Nascar driver. My Dad never had another favorite driver after Dale Earnhardt Sr. passed away.

I don't recognize the names of at least half the famous people mentioned in this thread. :(

I've chit-chatted with Teller, the little, non-speaking guy from Penn & Teller. He used to be a Latin teacher back in the day, and we talked about Virgil and Julius Caesar. He invited me to a special preview of a play he had written/directed which was being screened in Vegas before it moved to NYC. That was one of the coolest things I've done since moving here. The show was put on in a tiny backstage room, it almost looked like a practice stage or something and there were only like maybe 30-40 people in the audience. Besides that, the show featured some audience interaction and they somehow managed to get my grandma (...my deceased grandma...) involved in the show. Like, one of the characters was kind of psychic in addition to being a magician, and about halfway through the show they got a "message" from the dead and they said, "I'm hearing from Mary whose granddaughter is Cassie...." It was pretty cool. Given that there were only 30-40 people in the audience, I think the odds of that happening by chance are pretty slim. Neat, huh?

I also saw one of the guys from the Real World one time. He was the guy who got punched in the face and broke his orbital bone, if you remember that. Anyway, he was eating at a Chili's in Fargo, where I'm from.

A couple of months ago I saw Flavor Flav at Red Lobster.

As far as actually knowing anyone famous, I know an actor named Timm Sharp--we grew up together and went to school together. He starred in a show called Undeclared, which was pretty hilarious but cancelled too soon. He also appeared on a number of episodes of Six Feet Under and 'Til Death. He's also going to be starring in an HBO comedy set to come out later this year. I don't know if he counts as famous since I doubt he gets stopped on the streets and asked for his autograph, but he has managed to become a successful, paid actor, so I guess that's something. :)

Nothing phony about Willie.... He's the real deal. As for Dale Sr., I guess I haven't had a real favorite since he died. I still watch Nascar ... and there are lots of talented young guns out there. But something is missing without Dale Sr. I can only imagine what those drivers thought when they saw Dale Sr right on their back bumper....The man in black ..:)

My Aunt' s Dad was the navigator for Jimmy Doolittle of the Doolittle raiders. His picture is Smithsonian and he has a Air Force navigator school named for him. He was also an on set specialist for the movie Pearl Harbor. I met him several times when I was in high schoool. I dont think I knew that he was that much a part of history until after his death, Which is too bad because he had a very interesting story to tell that I only have learned recently.

I know Esme Raji Codell (author). My uncle played in a band, From Zero, that toured with Disturbed, Nickleback, and Nothingface. I met some of the members of those bands as well.

I have a family member who served with Elvis Presley in the Army. He wrote a book about it 'Sergeant Presley: Our Untold Story of Elvis' Missing Years.'

My cousin was a fairly successful screenwriter who got me backstage of "Head of the Class" when Billy Connolly made his debut. I nearly swooned meeting someone so talented who took the time to chat with an 18-year-old.

I also went through summer camp and youth group with Seth Green and R.D. Robb. R.D. isn't as well known, but you'd probably recognize him as Schwartz, Ralphie's friend who double-dog dared Flick to stick his tongue to the flagpole in A Christmas Story.

Dave Chapelle (comedian) lived in my college town and I saw him around all the time. I'd never heard of him, but my friends would recognize him. The first time we saw him and they started freaking out I had to look him up to figure out who he was, haha. My friends little sister didn't know who he was either and asked him where the bathroom was in the grocery store once, haha. I have a college friend whos trying to make it as a singer- she's gotten some things in the past (she came in 2nd on this american-idol type show for country music, and she's been on oprah and ellen). She's pretty talented- hopefully she makes it!

Well, yesterday I met Jose and Ozzie Canseco. VERY nice guys. My daughter and I got a picture with them and they signed the baseball I caught during tryouts for our local team (they are the managers). I was also able to network with Ozzie. He loves candles and I sell Scentsy. It was funny because he kept "making sure" that my contact information was on everything : D

Michael Rooker (actor--he was in Tombstone and Cliffhanger) had family in the small town where I grew up. He used to bring his camper into my dad's car dealership for repairs all the time!

I've met a number of famous people over the years, mostly while in college, due to my job as a coat check girl.

Through that job I met: Natalie Portman, Lauren Bacall, Prince Albert (of England... Charles' little brother,) the 1980 Olympic hockey team, Elie Wiesel.

Through other college experiences: Ginnifer Goodwin, Robert Dallek, Bethany Joy Lentz (she went by a different name then,) Evan Ferrante.

Randomly over my life: Ben Folds, Derek Jeter (I served him coffee and I didn't spit in it... an accomplishment, I assure you,) Garth Brooks, several random bands (Guster, Switchfoot, Cowboy Mouth, etc.) and some minor baseball players probably no one has heard of before.

My dad knew Gerald Ford personally, and we met him--face-to-face, by name--shortly before he became president.

I've met George Brett (be still my heart!), Jim Palmer, and several other baseball players in person.

And I babysat Greg McMichael, who was a relief pitcher for the Braves when they won the world series. He was runner up to Mike Piazza for Rookie of the Year.

Al Wood, who played basketball for the NC Tarheels and is a friend of Michael Jordan, had a daughter in my class one year.

Who do you WANT to meet? I really want to meet Peyton Manning and Wayne Gretsky, among many others!

When I was about 4 my parents took me along with them to happy hour. Apparently Derek Kennard (football player) sent me over a shirley temple. I guess he had a daughter around my age who he didn't get to see very often and I reminded him of her. I get to say that the first person who bough me a drink was a pro football player :haha:. I have also met some members of the USA water polo Olympic Team (so nice!).

I'm such a huge fan of hers. I friended her on Facebook and she accepted-I just about died. Since then she's comments on several of my Facebook statuses and wished me a happy birthday once. Of course she's just a regular person, but I hold her in high esteem and would love to meet her one day. I think we are kindred spirits for sure.

Was he nice, MissCelia? His music is played more than any other in our house (dh and I's song is 'Lucky One') and we saw him in concert last summer. I'm hoping we get tickets to his concert this summer as well. He seems super down to earth on stage.
