Do any of you know anyone who's famous?...Ok, I'll settle for met or seen? :)

    Don't know anyone, but...

I've shaken hands w/ David Copperfield at his show in Vegas.

Saw Christopher Reeves in a play when I was in middle school.

I've seen Robert Guillaume (Benson) once at a book signing at Nordstrom yrs ago.

I caught a glimpse of Hervé Villechaize (Tattoo from Fantasy Island) driving a golf cart while I was on Catalina Island when I was a child.

Seen cast from sitcom Sweet Valley High (based on the teen books) when I was a TV extra.

Saw Devon Sawa (Final Destination), Jaime King (Pearl Harbor), Laura Prepon (That 70's Show) & few others on a movie set when I was an extra.

I've seen several pro tennis players since I'm a huge fan & have been to some matches.
    - Jennifer Capriati
    - Lindsay Davenport
    - Anna Kournikova
    - Venus & Serena Williams
    - Elena Hantukova
    - Kim Clijsters
    - Richard Krajicek
    - Tommy Haas
    - Pete Sampras

I've seen some champion figure skaters because I've attended several ice shows: (to name a few)
    - Michael Weiss
    - Yuka Sato
    - Tara Lipinski
    - Todd Eldredge
    - Scott Hamilton

I saw a celeb walking in an airport, but cannot think of that person's name!

Probably several more when I've seen musicals & plays.

My mom's seen Charles Bronson in an elevator yrs ago.

My dad saw Bill Cosby when he worked at an airport.

    Probably more to follow.

In terms of actually knowing people, I went through youth group and summer camp with Seth Green but we lost touch ages ago (which kills me because he was a great friend, not because he's famous). Went to day camp with R.D. Robb, aka Schwartz from A Christmas Story (lost touch with him as well). My mom's cousin got me onto the set of "Head of the Class", where I had a lovely conversation with Billy Connolly right after he taped his first episode. Once I ran into David Morse at the same sushi restaurant, but he was with his family so I left him alone.

I've met a LOT of comedians just by hanging out towards the end of the line exiting shows. Most intimidating was Kevin Pollack. Most impressive was Eddie Izzard (he's really good looking in person). Nicest by a long shot was Gabriel Iglesias, but perhaps that was partially due to the audience buying him tequilla during his set.

Got it? Never met, but we COULD one day, right?

My sister's a member of an up-and-coming country/folk/bluegrass band -- not extremely famous, but they're getting there.

I've seen Don King a number of times on the streets of NYC, but I'm terrible generally at remembering faces of famous people, so he's about it. I've probably seen tons who I just haven't recognized.

I used to work "in the biz," so I've met quite a few actors - Lynn Redgrave, Angela Lansbury, Bruce Boxleitner, Kate Jackson (though I try to forget about her - she was not nice to writers), the late John Houseman and Scatman Crothers. As far as actually knowing actors, I went to school with Greg Evigan and have known Jonathan Lipnicki (the little guy from Jerry McGuire) since before he was born. :)

    Great thread!

My husband's grandfather was a very famous opera singer-Theodore Uppman. He passed away a few years ago, but we still live in that world when we go to New York. His grandmother always takes us to the Met for the current opera, and his costumes are in the closet. He was the original Billy Budd and was most famous for being Papageno in the The Magic Flute. He worked with Benjamin Britton on the operas, which is crazy because I use to sing Britton pieces in my choir growing up.

My dh is also a great-great-nephew of Seward, who bought Alaska. So we get to hear a lot of stories about that, and we have his silver.

His MOTHER works for a catering service in Carmel, CA, and meets celebs all the time. But I don't know them personally.

So I live through my husband's family. ;)

At my first teaching job, our ROTC instructor was a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient and the movie "We Were Soldiers" was based on the battle in which he won the MOH. He is a wonderful guy. I think he is retired and raising pigs now. They flew him to the big premiere of the movie back in 02. He still swears that teaching high school kids was the hardest thing he ever did.

James Farrior (plays football for the Steelers) went to my high school. He was way ahead of me, but his brother played baseball with my brother so he always came to the baseball games. This was back when he played for college though. My mom does however have his autograph. She got it at one of the games and he kind of laughed then....But...a few years later he started playing with the Jets and then the Steelers. And of course...because you have to support your hometown, the Steelers are my football team!

Edited to fix my crappy grammar! :)

I met the country singer Bryan White before he made it big, and saw Leann Rhimes before she was big.

Scott Podsednik from the Chicago White Sox played baseball in a town not far from where I went to school. We were rivals. I remember watching him play ball before making it big.

One of my friend's brothers is in a band and they are really good!

I've also had dinner with Shaq (large group), helped madonna shop for baby clothes (1st baby), and met Oprah. I'm sure there's some others I've seen because of where I live, but I can't remember at the moment.

I saw Derek Jeter (New York Yankees) in Toys R US buying a baby present before he became well-known. He was kind enough to take a photo with me. I also met a few other Yankee greats - Paul O'Neill and Jorge Posada - hanging outside the stadium.

This summer I got to meet Rachael Ray, which was huge because I LOVE her.

Once, I rode in an elevator with Regis Philbin but was too shy to say anything.

Oh yeah, I forgot a few things:

I went to a comedy club only once in my life & sat in the front row to see John Witherspoon.

I talked to a news anchor, Christine Devine, who walked into a clothing boutique I was working at at the time.

Nikki Swasey, who played Lisa on Diff'rent Strokes (w/ Gary Coleman) also walked into the same boutique once.

I also saw another male anchorman in the elevator of a courthouse when I was on jury duty.

From K-7 grades, I attended a private school & Richard Thomas' kids went to my school, so I've seen him a few times. (He's best known for being on The Waltons).

Also, at my private school, a large group of siblings named Agaginian (sp?) attended. Their family owned a racetrack.

They taped an episode of The Greatest American Hero across the street from my private school, so I'm sure I saw someone or two.

That's great! I'd like to meet Oprah.

Well, this isn't an A-list celeb, but if you watch The Amazing Race, you'll probably know who I'm talking about...

I am pretty good friends with Keven O'Connor from season 1. I believe he and his partner finished in 4th place. You may remember him from his most famous quote "Swing you fat B*stard!"

I've also met Greg Louganis of olympic diving fame and saw Bill Cosby at a casino (he was doing a stand up routine that I watched).

I forgot...I also saw Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson at an applebees when he was on his way to Sturgis for the motorcycle rally.

I went to high school with Dustin Pedroia from the Boston Red Sox, and just yesterday Matt Damon stopped in next to my mom's work to talk to the owners (Pedroia's parents) about him. :)

I was grocery shopping and Chyna (A.K.A. the famous wrestler Joan Marie Laurer ) walked right by me. This was pre-VH1 Shows.

Saw Black Eyed Peas at my college campus before they really blew up.

Got a picture with and hung out with the Extreme Home Makeover crew. My picture is with my girlfriends and Ty Pennington.

DH and I have hung out with Randy Rogers and Brady Black of the Randy Rogers Band, Cody Canada and the guys from Cross Canadian Ragweed, Stoney Larue, and Wade Bowen. Wade even told my husband (an aspiring songwriter) to send him some of his songs.
I guess that's pretty much it for me.

I don't know any personally but I have a friend who dated Gavin DeGraw awhile back and a friend of a friend who dated Adam Levine (from Maroon 5). I've met Hanson a couple times and interviewed them once for my college radio station a few years ago. I also met Rosie O'Donnell once when I went to her show about 10 years ago...we were backstage and she was in her pajamas w/ no makeup - not a pretty picture.

Oh yeah, for those who are jazz fans, my dad went to high school with the late Randy Brecker. For those more into international politics, Benjamin Netanyahu was also his classmate. If you prefer sports, you'll have to talk with my uncle who graduated with Reggie Jackson. Nobody from my graduating class is incredibly famous yet, but the class two years above me includes Josh Goldsmith, the screenwriter behind Till Death (based on my high school) and What Women Want.

    My high school rocked!

I met Kobe Bryant his first year on the Lakers outside of the Hard Rock Cafe in Sacramento. I had no idea who he was but the boys I was hanging out with made me go up to him - they were too awestruck! He was really nice and took a picture with us. This was over 10 years ago - I was still in high school!

I met the band Papa Roach back in 2000 before they got famous. I worked with James Garner's niece years ago but never met him.

I've known a few of the Sacramento news reporters and local theater stars.

Shaq played for LSU but left before he graduated to go pro. He would go back and take classes during the off season to finish up. I had a class with him during summer school. He was great in class and very funny.

I did not meet Oprah but she taped a show at a friend's house for her book club and everyone who got to meet her said she was not very nice to anyone that was there.

Packers full-back William Henderson mc'ed a concert at my high school years ago...I got my photo taken with him, an autograph, and got to dance with him!

I met Melody Thomas Scott (Nikki from Young and the Restless) when I was in middle or high school.

My BIL met Harrison Ford once on a fluke...he was passing through the small town that my bil worked in at the time.

That's about it...life can be boring in WI.

Oh, I can't believe I forgot this one....

A couple months after the dinner with Shaq, I was at the zoo with my kids. A zoo employee driving a golf cart pulled up and a pile of kids got off, and their dad was on the back of the cart. The man complimented my kids, and I complimented his and we chatted for a few minutes...normal "two random parents at the zoo" sort of stuff. Well, after about 5 minutes, I noticed a bunch of photographers running up, and looked at the guy I was talking to ....it was Shaquille O'Neal, AGAIN. I didn't even recognize him (in my defense, he was sitting down). I said "omg, I can't believe I didn't recognize you, especially after meeting you at Joe's a few months back". He laughed and said that was okay; it was nice being a normal dad, even if it was only for 5 minutes.

*I was friends with Tom Brady in highschool (he was called Tommy then). We were part of a big group that hung out a lot (he went to the boy's HS, I was at the girls). He was fun to hang out with then. Have not seen since we were in college.

*College friends with Andrew Firestone. We had a close mutual frend. He even brought Jen (long ago when they were on the show togehter and it had just ended) out with us a few times. She was very nice. Friends of mine just went to his wedding this sumemr and said it was amazing!

*Not really famous...but went to a party at the Dwane Johnson's(the Rock) cousin's house. He is also his stunt double. He looked just like him and was really nice. I am sure I bothered him all night b/c I kept asking him questions about movie star gossip!

My aunt was a World Cup Mogul Skier for Canada. She went to the Olympics twice. I also met most of the Canada team when she was on it.

Her name is Leelee Morrison (Henry), her husband is Pat Henry (also a World Cup Skier and Olympian).

Oprah. I was working for Bloomingdales and she came in when she bought a house on Fisher Island. The main purpose of her trip was furniture, but she went throughout the store as well. When she got to my department, she stopped and I had to help her. UGH, what a *itch with an extremely over inflated sense of entitlement....like we should all fall over backwards and take whatever she could dish out because of who she was.

Suprisingly enough, It was the same job in which I as assigned to help Madonna when she came in shopping for baby clothes when she was pregnant with her oldest. She was absolutely the nicest, most considerate, pleasant customer I ever had.

haha growing up I thought it was cool. All the kids in school wanted autographed pictures. She autographed posters for them instead. They loved it. I was in 5th to 10th grade when she skied competitively.

I would not want to help any tv celebs shop. No thank you!

Oh I met Daryl Hannah and JFK junior when I was in high school. They ordered ice cream from me.

    Here are my stories:

I worked with the girl who played Newt in the movie Aliens (Carrie Henn) at my last school. That reminds me, I've been wanting to email her and say hi.

I met and got my photo taken with Dat Phan who was the winner of Last Comic Standing.

My dad used to be a chauffeur way back then in LA, so he's met many famous people he's had to chauffeur. He used to work for an architect. My dad drove/met:
    Chuck Yeager
    Nancy Reagan
    one of the little rascals

Gosh, I'll have to ask him who else he met. I cannot remember who else.
