I'm considering getting one or the other. Obviously the kindle is cheaper. Other than that, anyone have thoughts either way?

Can you load files on the kindle? Print from it?

I just got a Samsung Galaxy tablet because I wanted something small and portable. It was on sale for about the same as the kindle.

    I have both.

I prefer the Kindle for books and streaming video. I have to use a stylus because the touchscreen isn't as accurate as the iPad.

The iPad has more apps and is faster overall.

I use both for Internet. I have apps like Evernote and Dropbox that I access from both. I have printed from the Kindle, but it's easier from the iPad.

    I'm glad I have both.

Terri's company buys the spouses a gift to make up for the time they have kept our significant others from us during the holidays and busy times. The woman spouses wanted shoes and jewelry, and other girly stuff, we men spouses, had our choice of a "package" of Baseball tickets, an iPad, or a shopping card (from Home Depot, Lowes, Bass Pro Shops, or Ping)

    It buys my silence .........

I have an iPad with several utility apps. I use it note taking at meetings, checking emails, and so on. I like the portability compared to my laptop.
I have the Kindle app too, and I use sometimes.

I'm really considering the Kindle Fire for reading and casual Internet use. A friend has one and uses it all the time. She is also a member of Amazon Prime and gets some good deals :)

I'm glad you posted, maybe one for business and one for pleasure....

Hmmm, I've had the iPad for several years now and haven't never thought of getting a Kindle. I have heard that for book reading its great. May be it would work for me better to have one so I could read more. With the iPad there are way too many uses that provide distraction from reading for me.

I'm a big fan of google, do I have me google email and calendar on it. My computer, iPad and phone are all synced so so whatever I do on one shows up on all.

I love Dropbox and Evernote too. Kindle, of course.

I have fun stuff like Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram on it. Photo editing apps are fun.

My iPad and Kindle are for different purposes. I wouldn't want to read for an hour or two on the iPad...much prefer e-ink. If you're considering the Kindle Fire for general tablet use, that might be a good choice.
