Just curious if everyone sends a weekly newsletter home? What info do you include?
I send home a newsletter each MOnday. I put all reminders in it such as: Half days, report cards, field trips etc...
I then write what we will be learning about in Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. I will also include stories that we will be reading.
I put the activities that will be in centers that week since I change it every week.
I also put who the Star of the Week is.
I include what we are learning that week, things that can be done at home to promote learning, homework assignments, reminders, birthdays, a question you could ask your child about something we have done in class, and our specials schedule. This goes home each Monday.
I do the exact same thing as Miss J, but I send mine home on Friday.

I send a daily e-mail with a few pics of what we did that day. It is not really to time consuming and the parents love it. You do have to collect all of their e-mail adresses, however, at the beginning of the year.
I even have e-mail addresses for the dad's offices.
The parents just love it.
I send my newsletter through email as well. In the beginning of the year I ask who would like to receive it through email. I will send it out Sunday night. However not all the parents have email.
I have been lucky this year in the fact that every single parent provided me with an e-mail! It is the first year I have started this and I know that I might hae just gotten lucky this year.
At our school P-k including sixth grade send a weekly newsletter home each week. It also includes breakfast and noon menu.
