Hey all! I'm a reading pull-out teacher and starting tomorrow I have a pull-out group of Ks. I actually taught K for one year a few years ago, but it sure seems like it's been a lot longer and I'm a little nervous about having 25 little ones who I don't know at all in a classroom that isn't really set up for K (I spend most of my time with 2nd-4th graders). It's for half an hour a day -- more like 25 minutes when you cut out the walking to and from the kinder wing -- and I plan to read a lot of stories and sing a lot of songs. But I'm also on the lookout for some good mini-lesson plans on any and all Language Arts related topics with a minimum of mess and fuss. Any help would be greatly appreciated :D

They love acting out stories like the 3 little pigs and Goldilocks.

For small groups I like to do word sorts. They can sort words or pictures. They can sort by vowel sounds, beginning sounds and word families. I also use pictures to sort by how many syllables. You can find pictures online or use old phonics books.
