Have not posted much lately or come close to starting a thread.
This will be my 36th year of challenging kids to push themselves to be
stronger and faster and to try new things. I figure 3 more years and I do something new. It is still great fun to see children succeed and have fun while learning and becoming healthier. I hope it is a good year for all and we all remember know matter what we make a difference in the lives of children. You may not see it right away but it is always there. It up to us to make it a POSITIVE difference. I learned a new saying recently. The children that need (love) the most may show it in the most negative way. No one said it would be easy.

We head back for PD days next Monday then the kids come after Labor Day. I'm feeling pumped! It's so good to hear that even with the start of your 36th year, you are still in it for the right reason! Thanks and have a great year!

Great first day..... But now I do the first day at my other school. I do PE every other day at two very rural schools. Great kids and great staffs. I can tell you this. It is VERY hot and humid here in north Fla.

I love your positive attitude, Stephen. Can you play some water games with the kids and still give them time to dry off?

My dream was a pool to teach swimming. In Fla a no brainer. But we barely have money for supplies. Not enough time to get wet and dry off. We do have a water day at the end where we ALL get wet for a day.

Do your students change clothes for PE, Stephen?

Not in elementary. We have no gymnasium. It is all outside.
In fact today they told me it is TOO hot to go outside and we are under a heat advisory. Never in 36 years have I been told that.

Wow. I believe it. The 'feels like' temp is well over 100 in Palm Beach County. I hate it. At my old school, kids changed shirts and shorts for PE even though we had no gym. They were pretty good about it, though it did take a bit of time out of class. Still, it was better than them coming in and getting chilled in the a/c. I have had to retrieve kids from PE and get them cooled down to avoid heatstroke.
