Not sure if this is old news, but I just found this out. I can not stand her and I am already unsure of one of my favorite book series being turned into movies.
Sandra Bullock was rumored and would have been great. Instead.... Katherine Heigl. Uggh.

Uggg I don't like her either. I don't see her as Stephanie at all!

Sandra Bullock would've been great for the physical humor part of the series. I too am bummed.

Yeah, I could just see Sandra Bullock making peanutbutter and olive sandwiches LOL
I wonder who will play the rest of the characters.

note: On one website I saw that Katherine Heigl was the executive producer so I guess that's how she got the lead ?

I don't see Katherine Heigl in that role, either. Sandra Bullock would have been much better!

Janet Evanovich is the author and it is the Stephanie Plum series.

Sandra Bullock would have made a perfect Stephanie. Stephanie is sassy and that needs to come out in the story. The only problem is that now that JE is on book 16, is the movie only going to be book 1 or maybe a combination?

Last question--are you a cupcake or a babe? I am a babe--I am in love with Ranger, too bad he is only a character in a book.

I think they should get The Rock to play Ranger!

Estelle Getty would have made the perfect Grandma Mazar.

You're right. I loved Estelle Getty.
Who should we get for Lula?? (I didn't know teachers could be such good casting directors LOL)

    From Evanovich's website:

Q: Is it true that Katherine Heigl will portray Stephanie on the big screen in One For the Money? How much of a say did Janet have?

A: Yes, Katherine Heigl is now the actress attached to the One For the Money movie project. Prior to Heigl it was Reese Witherspoon, and before her it was Jennifer Lopez. Janet sold the rights to One For the Money in 1993, before the book was even on the shelves. We're very excited about the movie possibly going into production after all these years. Like most authors who have had a novel bought to be made into a movie, Janet has no say, or influence, when it comes to casting or the script.

I could see Reese Witherspoon as Stephanie Plum, too. Definitely not Jennifer Lopez. Anne Hathaway was rumored at one point, too. Not my first choice, but better than Heigl.
Katherine Heigl is not funny- even if she thinks she is. It comes off cheesy. Plus, I doubt she will dye her hair and Stephanie Plum is not blond!

They could pass it along to her former co-star- Betty White.
Or, Ellen Albertini Dow- she is the grandma in Wedding Crashers and the old lady in The Wedding Singer ('Hip-to-the-hop....')

So funny- both of my Grandma Mazur choices are on there. As well as a few other thoughts (like Cameron Diaz for Valerie and Queen Latifa for Lula).

If it weren't for the ponytail, I'd say that Wentworth Miller (Prison Break) would make a good Ranger and move The Rock over to Tank.

I wanted Sandra Bullock to be Stephanie! Ugh! But I would do Duane Johnson (The Rock) as Ranger, Niece Nash as Lulu, Betty White as grandma Mazur...That's all I've got for now...So dissapointed that its Katherine, but glad they are moving along with the movie! LOVE the books!

What is the story behind them? I have never heard of the series.

They are about a girl (Stephanie) who takes a job as a bounty hunter and finds trouble everywhere. They are hilarious- don't read them in public because you will laugh out loud and get funny looks.

She comes off SOOOO fake to me. In everything- as Izzie on Grey's, in Knocked Up (which I hated), in 27 Dresses (which I semi-liked due to my crush on James Marsden from aabout 15 years ago on the show Second Noah- oh and the Benny and the Jets scene). I hated The Ugly Truth, too, even though I have a serious crush on Gerard Butler.

Do you guys enjoy reading the Stephanie Plum series? I only read one of her other books, and really enjoyed it. I've been wanting to look into other books that she's written.

BTW, I also don't care for Katherine Heigl. I would much rather see Sandra Bullock.

Yeah, she's very fake. She suffers from a "diease" my friend calls Tom Cruise syndrome. It's like when you watch a movies with TC and say "It's TC as cowboy. It's TC as a lawyer." as opposed to the character. I feel like that when I see her in a movie. Like she can't pull me in. I know you're supposed to take art and movies for what they are, but her behavior offscreen is bad. It's she's ungrateful to have a paying job (Grey's) when people are willing to take whatever. I mean, she's free to do as she wishes but if you don't like your job just quit. She's just very off putting as a character and in the way she presents herself as a person.

In my mind Sandra Bulllock is Stephanie Plum? What about Morelli--I do not have a pic of him in my mind except my cousin who is a very Italian homicide det. for NOPD, but no actors stick out to me.

I think his name is Adrian something, the guy that plays Vinny Chase on Entourage. He would be a decent Morrelli.

Hum, never even heard of this series. Might have to give it a try though. Are the books in the fiction section at the book store? Sometimes a light read is just what I need and it sounds like that's what this series is. Is that so?

And as far as the lead actress, I've never even heard of her! And any of the movies someone listed that she's been in I haven't seen. Yup, I'm definitely not with it in the movie department! Though I do know Sandra Bullok and like her in general. Ms Congeniality cracks me up every time I see it.

These books are definitely light reads. Some of them I've read in 1 day (when on vacation).

For some reason I always picture Chris O'Donnell in my head for Morelli even though he does not look Italian....

I can't see Adrian Grenier as Morelli though.

Maybe Jake Gyllenhaal. I don't know- everyone I picture as Morelli has light hair.

I wouldn't mind seeing a Morelli with light hair. Not ALL Italian guys are dark.
