Remember, all, the WARNING at the top of the page: we don't share specific actual test questions in these parts. We are, however, up for discussion of really useful concepts.
I am sorry, I was not trying to imply my request to ask for test questions. I should have worded my request better. Are there any study guides that are helpful for the art test?
Is florida on the Praxis mess or the other one..that obviously I didn't have to take b/c my state is Praxis ! lol In my Praxis, I'm not joking..I was done WAY early and had to sit the remainder of the time bored out of my mind. lol It was a cake walk for me b/c I minored in art history..and just have a knack for the information. Brush up on all your Jansen Art Through The Ages info etc, including architects. It's always about figuring out the wrong answers to narrow down to the correct.
I didn't say you were, scootergirl - this was intended as a general reminder to all and sundry. Every so often someone decides to volunteer specific questions. (It's happened, and not all that long ago.) Jansen's an old standby, of course, but it's often the case that the big-B bookstores stock their bargain shelves with art-history knockoffs that can be helpful. Make sure you can name media and methods - using the professional terminology tends to be huge on tests like these. If GACE Art examines you in art education, Google it or see what texts the schools in your area are using to prepare art education grads. You could also Google for lesson plans in art.
I am scheduled to take this test in late August and just purchased the Xam Art K-12 and it seems a bit "light" when it comes to info to study. I've been in industry for over 17 years and much of the terminology to processes (especially those WAY out of date) and artists aren't things we've used. Is there any other books or online places were we could get a better study guide for this? I also took the English 6-12 exam and that had an excellent study guide. This one seems just skimming the surface of all of the things... any help would be appreciated!
I passed the Art Exam! I also bought the Xam book and it was ok. I bought the secrets to the Art Exam and it was helpful. What really helped me was taking practice art quizzes online. Just google art quizzes. I also went to the website called freerice and under the subject, there is an art section. They give you a painting and you choose which artist painted it. I also went online and looked up art terminology and then individually for sculpture, ceramics and photography. I wish you the best!
