Please help me not freak out!
I am a first year teacher and was just offered a job for 2nd grade at a classical school (it will be taught at a 3rd grade level).
PLEASE give me any suggestions for what I should be doing as far as planning, and getting things for my classroom. I was planning on subbing this year so I really don't have any materials as of right now! I am wondering where to start for what materials to have.
Any calming words of wisdom welcomed as well :)

Yay! You got the job! Just know that you'll just need to focus on getting your supplies organized and the first week prepared. It's okay if your room isn't fancy. You can tell them it is UNDER CONSTRUCTION! Talk to you team (if you have one) they will help you.

Congratulations! And don't fret! If you feel like you don't know what you're doing, don't worry. Nobody knows what they are doing. Your team members can share what they do with their class with you, but the first week you just want to teach them the procedures of your class and expectations. Academics come later. I read "The First Six Weeks" my first year to help prepare me mentally. Where you might want to start... make a schedule of your normal day. For each time period think about what that looks like to you and what you have to teach them to get there.

Never heard of a classical school but good luck.

Don't worry about decorations, that's what anchor charts are for.

Congratulations.. Dont worry you will do a great job.. I am a big fan of Ice Breaker activities in the class.

Its helps me a lot every year first day of school. As new class it helps me to mingle with students and helps students to get in to the flow after such long vacation.

    You should try that.

    Best,
