YAY!! I am so excited- I got a call tonight from a great district in Ohio asking me to come down next week for an interview! :woot: I submitted my application way back in Mid-March and followed up with sending packets and emailing the Ps in early April. I did get a reply email asking if I was certified in Ohio (which I am not, but that's what pushed me to go and register for the Praxis exams- which I just took Saturday- and apply for Ohio certification...TOTAL God-thing, imo!) but then I never heard back until tonight, when I got the call for the interview! I am so thrilled...it's a great feeling knowing that all of the work I have put into my job search so far is starting to pay off!

Any Ohio-ans out there (specifically those in the greater Cleveland area) have any advice about interviewing or working at the districts in your state?

Wow, that's not an easy place to score an interview, so you must be an amazing candidate!

It is a public school, and I am interviewing for several available jobs in K-3.

Thanks for all the good wishes everyone!

I had my interview today, and I think it went well. Something I found out, though, was that it was a screening interview, and that I was 1 of 100 applicants that they are screening. :dizzy: I tried not to show my shock, but my hopes kind of fell when I realized just statistically how small the odds were. I was told that from this pool of 100, they would narrow it down some, then conduct more formal interviews, and then narrow it down some more.

Is a screening process like this typical of schools in Northeast Ohio?

Also, is it a bad sign that I applied in mid-March and am just now interviewing? (ie: Am I lower on their list of 100 people they wanted to interview?)

Screening interviews around my area are very common. In fact, most school districts around here have 3 different interviews stages in the process!

Hope, don't overthink this. You applied mid-March and maybe they are just now getting around to interviewing. There are tons of reasons of why they are just now interviewing. Just celebrate the fact you got an interview and that you think it went well. Keep applying elsewhere in the meantime. When did they say they'd let you know something? Goood luck!
