Does anyone know of a jungle/safari themed poem that would be appropriate for the beginning of the year? I want to post this on my jungle bulletin board.

    Cheer,
So I take it you are doing a jungle theme...I am starting my first year teaching in first grade and just decided to do a jungle theme. I have some real big oversized animal print pillows that I though would be great in my reading corner so I figured why not do a jungle theme. I would love if you shared some jungle theme things you are including in your classroom!
    Thanks :)

Here's one I had to memorize in elementary school:

    William Blake. 1757–1827

    489. The Tiger

    TIGER, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Could frame thy fearful symmetry?

In what distant deeps or skies 5
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand dare seize the fire?

And what shoulder and what art
Could twist the sinews of thy heart? 10
And when thy heart began to beat,
What dread hand and what dread feet?

What the hammer? what the chain?
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? What dread grasp 15
    Dare its deadly terrors clasp?

When the stars threw down their spears,
And water'd heaven with their tears,
Did He smile His work to see?
Did He who made the lamb make thee? 20

    Tiger, tiger, burning bright
In the forests of the night,
    What immortal hand or eye
    Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?

    love sharing

I would love to share ideas. (most of my ideas I have gotten from other teachers so i can't take credit for them all)
I am making a hut (reading area) out of bamboo poles(in coffee cans and quickset concrete) , big umbrella, and hula skirts. I am making a 3-d jungle bulletin board. Not sure what my heading will be. I am also placing a "hut like roof" Over my class door with bamboo sides(party store). I am looking for a jungle welcome sign for the door. I am using party safari hats for tags for their hooks. My www board will be made out of 2 bamboo beach mats with leaves as the letter headers.( not sure what to use for words.) So thats all my ideas for now. Let me know what you think and any ideas you may have.:)
