Has anyone see this movie yet? I thought it looked really good from the previews. I might read the book beforehand since I might not get to the theater anytime soon. Any thoughts?

    Yes. i saw it.

I liked it enough...though i actually had higher expectations for it.

The JULIA part is wonderful. I have to agree with a local movie sritic whosaid something to the effect of "Amy Adams is too good of an actress to do Meg Ryan roles." I enjoy Meg Ryan. Two of my FAVORITE movies are When Harry met Sally and Sleepless in Seattle...but I didn't want to see Amy Adams imitating Meg Ryan... and that was what you got in this Nora Ephron movie.

(I do have another comment...but that might give TOO much away about something towards the end of the movie.. so I think I'll wait until more people mention that they have seen it.)

Would I recommend it... yes, i would. :)

McKenna - I totally agree with your assessment and probably with what you wanted to say about the near the end part!

In all, I liked it, but it can wait for DVD.

I have not watched the movie, however the book is a worthwhile "light" read.

I really want to see the movie. Is it a "chick flick?" My husband keeps asking.

Yes... it's a chick flick... and though there are two couples who love each other (the Julia/Paul love story wasn't expected to be as sweet as if was - I just found the other couple (Julie/Eric) were too shallow to really care about)... it's not a love story. At least not between people.

It's a love story of finding your passion in life (Julia finding french cooking), or a person (Julie) following another (Julia) whom they respect.

So ..yes, a chick flick...but not a love story.

And if the guy is a real foodie - he'd enjoy it. If he's not... tell him you'll let HIM pick the next movie in exchange.

(EDITED: Oh my GOSH! This post had the most typos that I could POSSIBLY fit in a short statement. SORRY!)
