    Greetings!!

Should journal time be a part of center time activties? Or should it be a whole class activity?

Please tell me what you think would work best in 1st grade!

    Thank you!

    Hi!

I have the kids journal for Bell Work while they are coming in in the AM. It seems to be a good way for them to wake up and get into the routine. I can then check them with each student when they finish.

I used to have it as a center, but I found that I never looked at them then and never talked to the kids about them.

    Kelly :)

I was in a 3rd grade classroom where journal writing was part of center time/free time, but not many students used this time to write in their journal...actually I saw 2 students out of 20 writing in their journls. I think journal writing is important and something students will enjoy looking at later in life. (I find my scribbles and drawings from 1st grade adorable :] ) Have it as a classroom activity! Journal writing is grrrreat!
