DISTRICT ONE As many of you know my story. . . .I was offered a contract position for 40% I had this position last year. . .this is a hard position in a hospital very rewarding yet emotionally draining I postponed the contract signing till July 13, 2010. I did speak to sped director about other options and she said she would talk to me. this district has been GREAT for me and I have learned a lot and I am working summer school. i GAVE my word so my loyalty is to this district but I need a full time position DISTRICT 2 WAY back on May 24, 2010 I went on an interview in a district for a full time position. . . .I figured I got no response that I would not get a job offer from them I was wrong They called me today to offer me a full time K-2 Autism mod-severe class. I went into teaching to teach autism They are still doing my reference checks right now. . . she said I would hear back early next week with the formal offer. . . I went into special education to teach children with autism I need a full time position to make it money wise living in california. I am so excited yet not sure what to do about my current district Teaching kids with autism -- is why I have worked so hard these last three years --to become a special ed teacher. . . Jobs are so hard to come by!!!!
Congratulations!! I would tell your current district that you have been informally offered a new position. Or, you could call them on Monday and tell them that you are too ill to come in and sign your contract. Then wait patiently for the formal offer to come in... either way, what an awesome position to be put in. Good luck with your choice!
Congrats!!! Its a hard place because you don't want to burn your bridges with your current position, but are really excited about the new possibility! You have two main choices- either put off signing your contract until you have heard the formal offer OR go and talk to your current employer and be honest with them about the situation. Good luck!!
I'd let your current district know you are in the process of receiving a full time position in another district and as much as you like your position with them it's a struggle financially and a full time job is what you need. Congrats on the full time offer, even though it's not official yet is sure sounds like it will happen. I think if you're honest with your current district you'd be leaving them in good standing.
not sure I would let current district know until its official. I would tell new district your quandry. Maybe they would speed up process if they really want you.
I hate to say it but I don't know if there is much room for loyalty in this job market. If they didn't have the money to pay you, they would let you go. I agree that you should inform them that there is another full time position possible for you and that you have to consider it.
And I have known a couple people who were upright and honest and got let go because "lack of loyalty"......
If number 2 is calling number 1 for a reference check you may want to give number 1 a heads up. Hopefully they will be professional and say nice things if that is the case. By the time I called my employer the new one had already reference checked me with them. Luckily my principal was great about it
Congratulations Anewstart!! I would definately take the full time position when offered. You can't allow your current district or anyone else to hold you back from something you really want. Good luck! So happy for you!
So, let us know how it ends up. #1 will understand in this economy that you have to go for a full time position over what they are offering. Good luck!
I know number 2 talked to at least one of my references on Friday. She was very excited for me I did tell district two about number one. Maybe I will hear the official word tomorrow. I am working summer school so I am going to see if I can talk to number one tomorrow. I am so excited. . . .this is a great opportunity! In the last three years I have been on more interviews than I can remember. . . this will be the first year I will have a job the first day school starts!! The last two years I was hired after school started........
