I was feeling kind of down today, after I talked with a principal about positions open at the school where I tutor. Well, when I got home, I saw the number for a school in another county on my caller i.d. and when I called them, the principal set up an interview for Monday. I'm determined to nail this one. Wish me luck!!!
Good luck! What are you doing to prep? What are you bringing with you? What is your plan of action to really nail this one? I am going for THE interview on Tuesday. This is THE ONE! We are both going to nail these interviews! Good luck! Keep us posted! We will be on that 2010-2011 Jobs posting in no time! Rooting for you! Good luck! What grade?
GOOD LUCK!!! Can I be in the group of nailing the interview too? Well I think I am done with the interviews for one school, already had 2 rounds, now have a demo on thursday!! LET'S DO THIS!
I talked to the teacher that got the job at the middle school where I was tutoring. She said that she took her portfolio with her and she also made a packet for each member of the hiring committee with a cover letter, resume, a couple of lessons she had taught, and her letters of recommendation. I would have never thought to do something like that, but it obviously worked for her. It is what I plan to do.
StarrShine you are definitely included! The three of us are going to get these jobs and be the next ones on the 2010-2011 JOBS posting! Yay! StarShine- are you going for the winning combo, too? Going to bring a portfolio packet? OMG! You have already completed second rounds????? AWESOME! Congrats- that is amazing! Wow! I am going for my second on Tues. and Bet is going for first Monday!?! OMG! This is awesome! We are all going to nail it! Good luck and best wishes! Keep us posted! I cannot wait to hear THE good news! Bet and StarrShine, I am sending you a PM
I know, 2 rounds and now off to a demo. I was just telling my friend I need to get into a different career field where there aren't a million interview stages/rounds! Haha. If I pass the demo round hopefully that will be it, although, I still haven't met with the super...so that could be the final round. Hopefully my demo blows them away!
FYI, You might not have to meet with the super at all. I still haven't met mine formally & I was hired in June.
My friend is trying to get a job and she has her 4th round of interviews coming up! I couldnt believe how long the interview process was!
Earlier this year, I had a screening interview followed by an all day second interview. The second interview included a 45 minute panel (with 7 people,) a 30 minute lesson demo, writing of two essays, discussion of student data (with the other candidates) while the panel watched, and ended with a parent panel. It was intense! I was there from 9-2pm! On another note, I always bring a packet for each person on the panel. I include my resume, cover letter, letters of rec and a couple sample lesson plans. Panels always seem impressed by this. I don't want to seem "over-the-top", so I just print it out on nice paper and use a simple paperclip. I sometimes don't know how many people will be in the panel, so I usually make 10 or so.
Good luck! Wishing, hoping, and praying for you tomorrow! You can do it! You will nail this interview! yay!
I had my interview this morning. I think it went well. The principal said he would call one way or the other. From what I understand, the superintendent may choose to not fill the position. He did the same thing last fall in another school in that district when a teacher suddenly quit. He made them switch their schedules around so they could do without the extra teacher. I really want this job. Hopefully, I will hear something in the next day or two.
The principal called and I got the job!!!! I interviewed for 8th grade, but he switched it to 7th so that another teacher could move to 8th. That was fine with me. I actually prefer 7th. Anyway, I am so excited and so thankful. I was beginning to think this day would never come. I really appreciate the support from everyone here.
WOW! Hope this year is the year that you make your mark. Lead your classes to an enthusiastic year of learning!
Wow! This was such a fun thread to read! And I hope it gives hope for those still looking. Way to go bet3!
