Been looking at posts here for several months, but never posted till now. I have used the wonderful advice on here. I got a call for an interview Friday! I am so super excited about it. It is for 7th and 8th grade Math and Social Studies. I have long term sub experience with social studies. I long term subbed in the fall semester in 9-12 social studies for 7 weeks. Then I finished up at another school the last 6 weeks of school in 7-8th grade social studies and 9-12 Civics. I subbed in between those two long term subbing positions and before my first long term job from preschool to 12th since April 2010. My certification is in Preschool to 8th grade Math/Science and Language Arts/Social Studies. I just need to really check out those threads on interview questions and start to practice. I, like a lot of teachers out there, really need this position. I really think hand delivering my resume and all the other stuff I put in my packets I make helped. I also made a brochure. Whoever came up with that...GENIUS!!! The principal I called said I could just fax everything in, but I told him I didn't have a fax and would just personally bring it to him. That was yesterday mid morning. Plus, it can't hurt to put a name to face when applications come in. I talked to him about 10 minutes about the position and what expectations were. I really hope I am a good fit for this school. I have been looking for a teaching position since last April. Hope this is my chance to finally have my OWN classroom!
