When filling out a job application, is it better to list one school and all various job titles in one job entry, or should they be separated? Example below, both from the same made up job/position:

    (1) Carson Elementary
    Elementary Teacher and Department Head
    2012-2021
    Taught 2nd and 5th Grades
    Math Dept Head

    (2)
    Carson Elementary
    2nd Grade Teacher
    2020-2021

    Carson Elementary
    Math Dept Head
    2018-2021

    Carson Elementary
    5th Grade Teacher
    2012-2018

I feel that number two highlights the various experiences better, but should they all be listed as separate positions, especially if there’s overlap, as in the math dept head leadership position listed in the example? Listed supervisors and schools would be the same for all positions. They do all have separate responsibilities though.

Personally I'd use option 1, and then if there's a box for accomplishments/responsibilities I'd detail the specifics of each distinct role. But if supervisors and school are all the same, it feels a bit unnecessary to list each position separately.

I'd go with option 1 as well. I think it's a cleaner look and the people reading it will appreciate it being more concise!

Option 1. You can list your various roles when describing your duties, but since they were all at the same school, I would list them together. It’s not uncommon for people to teach multiple grades, so it gives you the chance to highlight each one.
