Anyone like that old classic after bath splash that's sold in drug stores? I was first introduced to it by my mom when I was a teen. It's a nice, light, kind of lemony fragrance. Overall, in the last decade, I haven't really used it much, but I actually have a spray bottle in my restroom cabinet now & decided to dig it out & give a little spritz!
Haven't thought about it since the 70s...I always found it a bit biting... I don't buy fragrance from drug stores....
lol. I used to like it but I probably haven't used that since I was 10. I saw a GIANT bottle of it in CVS the other day though.
I don't know where I've been but I've never heard of it. I might like it cause I love a good lemony fragrance.
Just a thought. My grandma and my aunt sold Avon when I was a kid....maybe that's why I can't recall it
How funny, I haven't seen or heard of Jean Nate since high school. I had no idea they still made it. I'm an Estee Lauder girl-- either White Linen or Silver.
I never liked the scent when I was a kid. It would often come in a package of drug store perfumes I would get as gifts. I only really liked one of the scents (Baby Soft) so I'd give the rest of the bottles to friends. I wear LUSH perfume now that's a citrus and bergamot blend that I adore! I like it because it's warm and subtle.
I still like Love's Baby Soft sometimes. I got some for my little sister and sometimes I will spray it on when I am there.
Love's Baby Soft takes me back! But I've never heard of Jean Nate. Okay, just googled it and I do recognize the bottle with the black ball cap. I've never known anyone to own it. I'd like to throw out here that I think the worst perfume of all time is Exlamation. Many to most perfumes gives me a headache, even if I like the fragrance, but this was the worst headache and I did not enjoy the smell whatsoever. Horrible. My stepmother wore it, too.
I was eyeing the Jean Nate "after bath splash" the other day at Rite Aid for my daughter. I remember wearing it after baths. I loved it because it smelled so clean. By morning the smell was gone. I also like the Loves Baby Soft perfume as a kid. But the smell I totall miss is the little Tinkerbell lotion and perfume I used to get as a kid. I loved that smell and can't find it anymore.
Another blast from past for me is Sand n Sable. I never cared for it, but Gram wore it all the time. Every Christmas we got bottles of it from her. I hadn't thought of it in years (we lost her 6 years ago). Then, while shopping with friends, we came across a bottle. My friend squirted some out, and instantly the memories flooded back. It's amazing how one little smell can open such a floodgate!
Oh, those old scents really can bring back memories. I remember one Christmas when all my boyfriend's family members gave me Jean Nate. It was a fresh, citrusy scent. I have usually worn Estee Lauder fragrances over the years. Right now, I love their new-ish one, Sensual. I also have to wear Cinnabar in the winter because it smells like Christmas to me.
I LOVE Estee's Beyond Paradise. However, I can't afford it, so I wear body spray from Bath and Body (different scents for different moods!)
I remember it, though I can't remember the scent. I used it in high school, oh so long ago. I'll check Walgreens tomorrow to see if I still like it.
I used to wear both of these in middle school, although Exclamation was definitely my favorite. I thought the bottle was so cool. In high school, EVERYONE wore CK One.
I don't know what Jean Nate smells like but I do remember seeing the bottles. I had a few bottles of Baby soft and Exclamation. I loved how all the different bottles looked on my dresser LOL I also liked the Victoria's Secret scent that came with a little angel holder. I'm not sure what that was called. In high school I wore Downtown Girl but I don't think they make it anymore. I still have a bottle of it that I found online.
Ok, since we're on the topic: Julia turns 12 in 2 weeks. What's a good "grown up"-- but not TOO grown up-- scent I can get her?
This description of Vera Wang Princess fragrance sounds right for a tween: Vera Wang Princess Perfume by Vera Wang for Women Amazon.com Vibe: Independent and Playful This perfume has an adventurous and flirty vibe, thanks to its blend of floral, fruity and bakeshop scents. Water lily, apple, orange and apricot combine with sheer floral notes, dark chocolate and pink frosting. If this were a dessert, it would be the yummiest (and prettiest) cupcake ever. As a perfume, it's amazing for daytime wear - we can pretty much promise you will get comments. Happy by Clinique is a nice fruity floral, and a nice intro to the Clinique line: http://www.sephora.com/browse/product.jhtml?id=P122641
There are new Tinkerbell fragrances: http://www.amazon.com/Disney-Perfume-Tinkerbell-Fragrance-Bottle/dp/B005FRFW1U :woot:
That's one of my favorites! I always wear it on the first day of school because it reminds me of the scent of my first grade teacher. I'm a bit of a scent snob. Nobody in my family ever wore any kind of fragrance, but when I got to college I decided to find my scent. I'd buy a bottle a couple of times a year, usually for Christmas and sometime during the summer. I supposed I could have a worse vice than expensive fragrances, but it has spoiled me a bit. I find most "cheap" ones don't last very long, and they're too strong when they do. I've seen Jean Nate my whole life, but I've never smelled it. I saw a huge bottle of it at the pharmacy today. I should have taken a sniff.
Justin Beiber's Someday is a nice scent. I tried it at Sephora when I was shopping with a friend. She was buying it for her niece, who is 10.
