We just received an appointment time for the MRI on Lauren's back--in a couple of weeks at 1:00am!!! I was sure it was a misprint, until I looked at the sheet attached to the booking form which assured us that, yes, the appointment is in the middle of the night! Oh well, at least I don't need to book time off work!
Yikes, that is an odd time, but I guess they feel like they can get to more patients in a more timely manner if they run the department around the clock. After all, hospitals never really close.
I had a friend get an MRI at 8 pm and I thought that was odd... I guess they just keep it going all night!
I CT scan at midnight once. But that's because I'd smashed a car window with my face earlier that day.
Call the hospital to double check. I've had some late MRIs too, but never that late. I've had like MRIs at 11 PM and 5 AM. (Both after having a massive seizure when I was 6. At 11 PM when the episode stopped, and at 5 AM the next day) If it is with contrast, it will be impossible to get to sleep after that. Contrast hurts like hell. Also needles are evil
The attachment to the appointment confirmation notification says, "_____ Regional Hospital is now running a midnight shift in the MRI Department on WEEKENDS ONLY. Your appointment is scheduled for the middle of the night. Please check the date and time of your appointment carefully." So, I'm guessing that the time is right. As odd a time as it is, at least it is a Friday night/Saturday morning, so school won't be impacted for either of us.
If I cancel the middle of the night appointment, she goes onto the regular wait-list which sits at 3-4 months. This way, it is getting done sooner and neither one of us will have to miss any more school.
Ah... what teenager doesn't stay up & sleep in on the weekends!!! Grab some coffee or some sort of treat together!!!
Wow. Wait lists? That is just so odd. I've never had wait-lists for something as simple as an MRI. I guess it is because my state has a lot of hospitals.
I had a CT scan late at night once. It wasn't bad. I didn't have to wait, deal with a lot of other people, and there was plenty of parking. Hopefully her MRI goes well!
Emergency--no wait list (but a long wait) Tests scheduled through a specialist--long wait list at times
When I had my MRI I was sick afterwards! All I did was curl up at home and sleep the day away. But, hopefully your daughter won't have the same experience and you can run to a Tim Horton's afterwards.
I'm not going to share any horror stories with her--at the very least a trip to Dairy Queen sometime on Saturday will be in order.
The longest wait i've had for a special test was ~3 weeks, but we had scheduled it three weeks later because: A. Insurance needed to approve it B. Didn't want it to be on my birthday For a cardiac MRI and MRA, that was only a two week wait, because my specialist wanted me to go to the top hospital in the region.
