I'm sure it was a coincidence, but the only two times I've gotten a flu shot, a week later I got the flu worse than I have ever had it. In fact, those are the only two times I have gotten the flu.

I am carrying hand sanitizer with me everywhere, and spraying down my desks and doorknobs with Lysol, and taking extra vitamin C, and drinking more water.

I get sick as a dog everytime I get them (I've gotten them five times). Last time it developed into pneumonia. I don't when I don't. So, never again.

I do. My district gives them every year at no cost, and your spouse can get one for a small fee (though mine never has).

I have never gotten the flu or the vaccine. My doctor convinced me to get one this year. I am really nervous about it. I feel like I am messing up my natural immunity, or that I will be the one in a million that gets Guillian Barre or something.

I'm pretty sure that it's not possible to get the flu from the flu shot because that's made with a dead virus. If you got the flu after a flu shot, it was already in your system before you got the shot.

I think that you CAN, however, get the flu from the nasal spray vaccine. The odds are small but not zero.

I got one the past two years. I think I will get it again this year just to be on the safe side.

Absolutely I am. I didn't have a problem last year and the shot this year is pretty much identical. However, I will wait until my cold passes.

I hem and haw about it each year. The first year I subbed, I didn't get one and got horribly sick over and over again. The second year, I got a shot, and still got sick, but not as badly as the first year. I don't know if that's due to the shot or due to building up immunity to kid germs...I really don't want to pay the $25 Target and the drugstores charge to give the shot, but since I don't fall into a high-risk group, I haven't found it free anywhere.

I'm also going to be training for a full marathon over the winter and those endurance runs play havoc with your immune system. You get really succeptible to things. I really don't want to get sick and miss my event. I'll probably get one. I'm just looking for a cheap (free) opportunity.

I don't trust them. I'm not going to let them inject me with anything I don't have to.

I was going to the last two years, and then ended up getting the flu very early in the season both years (think Labor Day weekend...). I still haven't decided for this year.

If I end up at a doctor's and he has some, I'll get one. (I have to make a couple of doctor's appointments when I get the chance.)

    Otherwise, probably not.

It's mostly a question of not wanting to make time for another doctor visit, as opposed to any objection about the vaccine itself.

I haven't gotten one the past few years. This year I'm definitely getting one. There is a time set aside for district employees to get them next month.

Check with your insurance. Alot of times they are covered because it is preventative.

I plan to get one either the last week of September or the first week of October. My doctor told me that was the best time to get one. This will be my fourth year of getting one. I haven't had the flu in four years either. I do tend to get some muscle aches after getting the shot but it is nothing major and alot better than being down sick and missing work.

Me! I didn't get it one year and got the flu for an entire week over Christmas break, including the holiday. I don't think I've ever been so miserable. It's 20 dollars with my insurance, but it is SO worth it in my opinion, especially since many parents at my school don't have childcare available during the day and will send kids to school sick.

I've gotten one evey year since I developed asthma. I rarely get much more then a sinus infection. Both my hubby & son have already gotten theirs. Our insurance covers it & the nurse does it, so no co-pay.

Yes, I already got it at CVS Minute Clinic. It's fully covered by insurance.

Last year was the first year I've ever gotten it, and I got the flu - a horrible horrible flu. And it was several months later, so it's not like I already had it or anything.

But, they give them for free in our lounge at school, so I'll probably try it one more time.

Yes, I always get a flu shot.

My doctor is a big fan of vaccinations, so I'm fully vaccinated. This year we get ours free. Normally we pay for them, but the health department comes to school and gives them. DH always gets his from his allergist.

Both doctors recommend we gets ours the first week of October.

Because of my husband's health our doctor wanted me to get one every year. I did for a few years without any problems then one year we both went in, got out shots & I had started having an allergic reaction as we were going to check out. I was told not to get them anymore. Our doctor isn't happy about it because I have asthma plus the chance of bringing something home to my DH but I'm afraid to risk it. So far I haven't had any real bouts of the flu so been very fortunate.

I've never had the flu in a serious manner... I had a "mild case" of it during my student teaching that lasted 2 days.

I'm still on the fence about the shot. It's not that I don't like shots but... I don't know. I just don't know that I want to get it.

I have always gotten them in the past. However, since I left my corporate jpb and started my teaching job one week before our shots at work. I did not get one. I got very very sick with the flu. I am sure I will be first in line when they are on campus later this month (dcepending on my planning period :) )

I won't be getting a flu shot-- I try to avoid getting shots as much as possible. I will be sticking to washing my hands with soap and hot water a few times every day (thankfully I have a sink in my classroom) and wiping down my desk and work areas with wipes.

I got the flu the first time last year. It was horrible. I had a 103 degree fever and everything hurt, including my hair! I vowed to always get a flu shot!
