I have the job!!! This morning's meeting was actually a Parent/Teacher/Teaching Assistant/Principal meeting. I met one of my wonderful students, who I will be spending the majority of time with, and he is wonderful. He has ADHD, but his parents are very knowledgeable, very approachable and seem easy to talk to. We hit it off right away. I will be in a 2nd grade classroom. I was with my teacher during the meeting, but we did not have a lot of time to talk because she had to leave before my meeting was over. From what I saw, she and I will work well together. I tried to respect boundaries between her and the parents, but the Principal encouraged me to share my ideas because he said "You will have the most interaction with him than anyone else. He is very, VERY bright. He reminds me a lot of my own son and they have a lot in common. I am very excited, though I know it will have its challenges. The Principal talked me up quite a bit to the other teachers and secretary. I was somewhat embarrassed, I am now going to read all I can get my hands on. I have a lot of familiarity and some personal and classroom experience with ADHD, but I am still going to gather all I can so I can help him in every way I am able. I appreciate all the good thoughts. I am sorry for all my worry and whining the past couple weeks. I hope everyone else has the best of luck on their searches. I will still be part of this forum because you are all important to me, and have supported me. I plan to do the same.
