Hanvan, that's awesome you'll soon be a full-time mommy! My little one will be four when I start teaching full-time and I am half dreading the day (but I promised hubby I'd work so he can go back to college - and I'm a gal who keeps her promises :)).

How wonderful for you! No more correcting papers, parent worries, behavior problems, etc. But I know you won't miss any of it! Enjoy the rest of your life!

Me too!! My first week back I had a break down in her office and told her this was my last year. I hate the fact that someone else gets to spend all day with Xavier.

I feel that I have already "checked out" for the year. I am counting down to May with you!

Yeah for both of us and our babies!!:)

Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also feel like I have "checked out" for the year. Isn't that horrible? I just want to be the one taking care of my baby. I hate that someone else gets to take care of her all day.

Congratulations! I am due with a girl in May too! I also made the decision to retire after this year. This is my 5th year and I can't wait! I am so tempted to take sick days now but I am trying to press on so I can take them at the end. The last day is June 1st and I'm due May 30th!

I'm not going to be having a baby, but I'm quitting too. This is my first year. Things just didn't work out at my district.

BTW, congrats to all of you who are quitting!

I'm so happy you will be with your baby. I did the same thing with my daughter. Please don't " check out" you are still working with other "babies"(no matter how old) Just count the days down and it will go by fast.

I'm really happy for you all! 15 years ago, I quit too and never regretted it! Well, almost never. I quit because I too couldn't imagine anyone else with my baby and no family members were available to help. I lived 30 miles from my school which was a definite problem. I always thought that being a good teacher, I could get another job whenever I was ready. Professionally, it was a naive decision. I had to work very hard to prove to administrators that I wasn't a dinosaur and it took me years to find my current position, which I love. Women principals were the worst, but that's another thread. Personally, it was the best thing for me and for my family. Not everyone will value this decision you've made. But sometimes you just have to do what feels right. I wish you all the best! In the end, you just want your adorable kids to become super teenagers and then responsible adults.
