After I posted on another thread, GlendaLL suggested that I start a thread about this. I think it'll be funny to hear what everyone has to say! So...I'll start with what I posted on the other thread.

It's not winter until you wake up in the morning, can't open your car door because it's frozen shut, need to get hot water to open it and then let it run for 20 mins before it warms up! haha

It's not winter until your school district calls a snow day.

It's not winter until it's cold enough to long for a warm fireplace.

It's not winter until your pipes are frozen up and you have no running water. (Been there!)

It's not winter until you curl up with a blanket and a mug of hot chocolate and watch the snow falling outside.

It's not winter until the diesel fuel in the semi trucks starts to gel and they have to pull off the road.

Wow, I can tell you all live north of me! :) It's not winter here until it snows just enough to freeze the highway into ice and I have to drive 40 miles to school on solid ice with 500 lbs of tractor weights in the back of the truck just to get traction while all the college students going in the opposite direction are driving 80 on the stuff and end up in the bar ditch wondering why they can't still drive 80!

It's not winter until your mom pulls you out of a nice warm bed to scoop snow out of the cattle feed bunks at 5:00 am.
    (I HATED that!)

It's not winter until there is a snowfall that comes down so gently that it makes mounds on the fence posts.

It's not winter till you get a cold chill just hearing the words from the weather man, "There's an Alberta clipper headed to our area."

It's not winter until you get a snow day from school, get excited about a day off and then realize that the plow piled 3 feet of snow in front your driveway. Then, spend the whole day trying to shovel it out before it has a chance to freeze! (Do you have any idea how many times that happened to me last winter? haha And they don't even usually plow my street!)

I am too. It's only about 38 degrees out now and my heat hasn't been on at all so it's pretty cold in here. I drank some hot cocoa a little while ago, though, so it's ok.

    Ha! Gotta love that!!!

    CA is like another planet!
It's not winter until you're wearing your fur lined snow boots from a few years back , mittens , a hat and a scarf , and shoes in hand as you make the morning trek out to the car with snow and wind pelting you in the face as you head off for work.

I should have added that, in the case of half of the half, winter can't come too soon for me.

It's not winter until you add a little peppermint schnapps to your hot chocolate - just to get some "anti-freeze" in your bloodstream.

It's funny, I went to AZ for New Year's a few years ago and it was between 50 and 60 degrees out every day that I was there. I was walking around in a short sleeve shirt during the day and maybe using a sweatshirt at night. I can't tell you how many people I saw in winter coats and gloves...when it was 60 degrees out! It was like a different world.

Yes, well, when the summers get to be over 100 degrees... THAT'S tough. I mean, there's a point past which you just can't take off any more clothes, you know?

I would love to see some of you warm weather babies out here in Wisconsin and Minnesota during the months of January-March! Ha ha! Let's see what you think cold is after that;)

Winter here is when you walk outside and your boogers in your nose freeze up and feel like they are poking you from inside:)! Or, the snot hanging out of the children's noses turn into iscicles as they are playing in the snow!

Have you ever tried them like they do in Scandinavia? - Sit in the sauna and get a good sweat going - then run out into the snow. That sounds invigorating!!

I hate winter in Arizona! my kids are begging for us to move back to WA state so they can play in snow! We are shortly becoming one of those winter wimps, but still don't wear a coat!

Its 79 degrees today! Low will be 57. We still use the airconditioner in our bedroom.
