Hello everyone. Well, I got the job! :) I will be a 4th grade teacher in Johnston County North Carolina. I am so happy (that is an understatement - I am so much more than happy, but I can't describe it at the moment). The HR director called me yesterday and said the job was mine. I have to go down there in a week or so to sign the papers and look for an apartment. Then I have to move everything I own. This next month will be insane! I start August 15th and the students start the 27th.

I truly am thankful to everyone who gave me advice and feedback. I don't really know anyone who is looking for teaching jobs so I had no one to really talk to. That's why I am thankful for this site. All of you have been great and I'm glad I have a place to ask questions. Good luck to everyone who is still searching.

    Congrats!

Question: Did they require you to come down in person to sign the papers, or did you offer? I am going BACK to NC next week, and I plan on looking at apartments in each area while I am down there. Because I will have to come home for a week and a half to two weeks to pack my stuff and move... Just curious!

They didn't really give me a choice on the matter. I have to do it in person because I think someone will explain all the benefits and such, then I have to meet with a license specialist. I was able to choose when I wanted to come down, so I could have waited until I moved, but I have to find an apartment anyway. Besides, my boyfriend has to apply in person for the Raleigh police so he will do that while we are there.

Thank you everyone!!!! It's now starting to sink in. I am of course excited, but now I am thinking how am I going to get through the 1st day let alone the 1st year? Let's just say I have been doing a lot of reading to get myself prepared, but truly nothing can prepare me except for the real thing. Thank goodness I have been collecting materials over the years so I won't go in with nothing. My parents will be so excited to have all my stuff out finally. (I am not sure they liked being my storage unit).

Well I picked North Carolina because they need teachers and I knew I had some sort of chance there. I do have a friend that lives there too - she got hired to teach pre-K without a degree so that gave me hope. We will live about 2 hours apart which is better than 14 hours. My boyfriend doesn't really care where we live, he just wanted to be near a big city. He would be a Detroit Cop if he could, but again no jobs for him either. So it worked out.
